This was a request by @Foodiforlife45
In this story, Nick and Charlie are aged up, having their own house and puppy, everybody's favourite Daisy. So sorry if this is shitty, i wrote it at like 3am because I remembered i actually get requests now ;-;7:46PM
Saturday"And you're sure the party's next week?" Charlie asked. it was Saturday, Nick and Charlie were (supposedly) going to attend Tara and Darcy's costume party next Saturday, but Charlie didn't trust Nick with the time. From experience. Nick was sure it was next week, swearing up and down that that's what it said on the invitation letter they got in the mail on Wednesday. Unfortunately, they couldn't double-check since Daisy had chewed it up first chance she got, which happened to be as soon as they had left the room for point-two seconds.
"Yes! The party is next Saturday, eight to twelve PM," Nick reassured him, "When have I ever not been right about something like this!?" Nick was getting defensive. Charlie just gave him a look that said it all.
"Nick, your MOTHER had to remind you of our anniversary. Twice!" Charlie reminded him, a hint of a laugh in his voice. Nick went silent, opening his mouth to say something, then closing it again when he realized he didn't have a counter-argument that didn't make him sound like a child. Charlie just laughed softly.
"Look, why don't we just call and ask, yeah?" Charlie suggested, "just to be safe." Nick shrugged, slightly annoyed that Charlie wouldn't trust him with this, even though he knew damn well why he didn't. Nick mumbled a "fine" and Charlie took his phone out of his back pocket and entered Darcy's number. The call tone sounded four times before Darcy finally answered.
Charlie: "Hey, Darcy! Just checking because me and Nick can't remember for the life of us, When was the party?"
Darcy: "Oh, it's starting soon! where are you guys, anyways?"
Charlie shot Nick a look that encapsulated both stress and 'i told you so'.
Charlie: "o-oh? It's today?"
Darcy: "Yep! What, Nick tell you it was Next Week TM again?"
Darcy laughed on the phone softly, letting out a snort at her own joke. Charlie laughed along, for a very different reason. Nick couldn't hear a word of what Darcy was saying over the phon, but he could make... inferences.
Charlie: "haha, yes, actually. W-we'll hurry there, see you!"
Charlie tried his best to make his voice sound cheerful and calm, though he was panicking internally. He hung up the phone and looked at Nick, who looked like a guilty pup caught in the act of chewing on the furniture.
"Do you think we still fit those costumes we had first year of uni? The Spidey and Cap costumes, or did they get lost in the move?" Charlie asked, an edge of stress and anxiety straining his voice. Nick looked completely calm, though.
"Oh, yeah, we still have those. They're in the box with my old disposable camera, furthest down, next to my old mug." He stated quickly, as if he had rehearsed it. So he could remember that but not the date they would be going to a party. Lovely. Charlie couldn't be mad at him, though. After all, Nick was his boyfriend of nine years, it takes a lot of effort staying mad at him. Charlie sighed in relief. Well, at least we have costumes...

Saturday"...Fuck. We're late"
The costumes didn't fit. It's not surprising, but that doesn't make it any less tragical. Charlie gained weight after recovering from his Anorexia, which was a journey that took time and effort, but that he can safely say is getting so, so much better. Nick's suit was small to begin with, and his Captain America costume was not exactly stretchy, either, so after going in the wash slightly too warm, it was bordering on painful or impossible to put on instead of slightly uncomfortable."So... what now?" Charlie asked, trying to get his ankle out of the foot-hole of the costume, "also, a little help please?" He showed his stuck situation. Nick gently pulled off the costume from Charlie's ankle, already out of his own since he'd never managed to put it on completely from the start. Nick thought for a moment, a suggestion popping into mind.
"We could swap clothes? I might need your oversized sweater and your trousers will be too small, but i could probably dig out the matching skinny jeans you got me."
It was a terrible idea, really, but it was the only one they had, so Charlie agreed.

Saturday
Charlie had sweats on. He didn't own any sweats that looked like Nick could wear them at all, so the ones he were wearing were really Nick's but with a rubber band in the back to tighten it and hold it in place at least a little. his sweater was just one of Nick's, which isn't really that different from the norm. Nick was wearing one of Charlie's most oversized sweaters, and it almost looked oversized on Nick, so that says something. The black ripped skinny jeans Nick were wearing made him look almost cartoonish and he would not stop complaining about them, how his legs itch and the fabric is digging into the back of his knee when he bends it. They're both still wearing their own designated shoes; Charlie with the converse and Nick with the vans. They both looked in the mirror.
"Hey, this isn't so bad!" Said Charlie optimistically. They had so different styles that it was obvious who they were dressed up as. Nick wasn't a fan of the itchy sweater, but seeing Charlie in his clothes made it so much better. For now, they had to get going to the party that they were already late to. Nick took a full ten minutes just saying goodbye to Daisy. She had just gone on a walk and they had just fed her too, so she could be left home safely. They eventually, finally, made it outside. They sat in the car and Nick turned the keys, the car roaring to life after a couple of tries.
8:31 PM
SaturdayNick and Charlie arrived more that half an hour late, but hey, they had the funniest last minute costume of everyone. They greeted everyone at the door, giving hugs and such. Darcy somehow convinced them to take a photo with Nick sitting on Charlie's lap, as a change of pace now that they're dressed up as the other. The squad played games, they watched a movie; Scooby Doo: Monsters unleashed. It was great, though a little stressful towards the beginning. soon, the time to go home came. They walked back to their car and drove home after saying goodbye to the Paris Squad. Nick was... not a night person. he could stay up fine with Charlie, but actually doing anything like a party took out his social battery at the speed of light. Nick stumbled through the door, Charlie following close behind, though not in such a clumsy manner. He locked the door behind them and toed off his shoes, pushing them aside. Nick had forgotten his on and walked into the house. Charlie grabbed him by the back of his collar, pulling him back.
"Oi, no shoes in the house," He said gently. Nick groaned, eyes drooping as he kicked them off his feet and continued walking into house. Charlie followed him to their bedroom. they got ready for bed, brushing their teeth and changing into PJs. Nick tried to sleep in his clothes because he was too tired to take them off, turns out that's not as comfy as he thought it'd be. Nick pulled off his clothes and Charlie threw him his PJs. Charlie got into bed next to Nick, who was already half asleep. Usually Nick was big spoon, but he was obviously too tired to even turn around. Charlie snuggled closer and wrapped his arms around him, nuzzling into the back of Nick's shoulder and letting out a soft sigh. It'd been a fun, but long day. Charlie couldn't held but think about how much fun it had been to hang out with the Paris Squad after some weeks away from each other since everyone's been super busy. He fell asleep with a warm feeling in his body and one final thought:
I wonder if this is how Nick feels when I wear his hoodies...
...
Yes. Yes it is.
