Nick and Charlie lay side by side on the grass, staring up at the stars. They had been lying there for hours, talking and pointing out constellations. It was a peaceful night, and the only sounds were the rustling of leaves and the occasional chirping of crickets. Nick turned his head to look at Charlie, who was gazing upwards with a dreamy expression on his face. Nick couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest as he looked at Charlie's profile. He had been harbouring feelings for Charlie for a while now, but he didn't know how to tell him. Charlie turned his head to look at Nick, catching him staring. "What?" he asked, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. Nick shook his head, trying to hide the blush that was creeping up his freckled neck. "Nothing, just... I'm glad we did this." Charlie smiled, turning his attention back to the sky. "Me too. It's nice to get away from everything and just... be." Nick agreed, but his mind was racing. He knew this was the perfect moment to tell Charlie how he felt, but he was too nervous. What if Charlie didn't feel the same way? What if he ruined their friendship? Before he could talk himself out of it, Nick turned onto his side and propped himself up on his elbow. Charlie looked over at him, curious. "Charlie," Nick said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I need to tell you something." Charlie sat up, mirroring Nick's position. "What is it?" Nick took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves. "I... I like you, Charlie. I've liked you for a while now." Charlie's eyes widened in surprise, but then a smile spread across his face. "Nick, I like you too." Nick's heart soared at Charlie's words. He couldn't believe it. "Really?" Charlie nodded. "Yeah. I've been too scared to say anything, but... I like you a lot, Nick." Nick's whole body felt like it was buzzing with excitement. He had never felt so happy before. "Can I kiss you?" he blurted out, before he could overthink it. Charlie's eyes widened and Nick was scared that had gone too fast, but then Charlie responded. "Y-yes, please." Nick leaned in slowly, giving Charlie plenty of time to pull away if he wanted to. But when their lips finally met, it was like a jolt of electricity shot through Nick's body. Charlie's lips were soft and warm, and Nick couldn't get enough. They broke apart after a few seconds, both of them grinning from ear to ear. Nick couldn't believe that he had finally kissed Charlie. It was even better than he had imagined. "Wow," Charlie said, still breathless. "Yeah," Nick agreed, his heart still pounding in his chest. They lay back down on the grass, their fingers entwined. Nick felt like he was on top of the world. He had finally told Charlie how he felt, and he had kissed him. It was a perfect night. As they continued to stare up at the stars, Nick knew that this was just the beginning. He and Charlie had a lot of exploring to do, and he couldn't wait to see where their relationship would go.
