"So, the man said that the Dunelvia ruins is about a 40 minute ride from here, right?" Tessa asked.
"Yes. And we've been on the road for about 15, Tessa." Victoria replied.
"This is going to be one hell of a venture." Said Tessa.
"It is what it is, Tessa." Replied Victoria.
They were both silent for the next few minutes until Tessa spoke up.
"How do you think the others are getting on?" She asked.
"I..."
"...I trust them. I'm sure they'll come back safe and sound. And who knows, maybe they reached an agreement with Stellaria?" Victoria replied.
"I trust them too." Said Tessa.
"Even Elijah?" Asked Victoria.
"Well, yeah..."
"...he's still trustworthy in my eyes. But him and I aren't back on the best of terms yet." Tessa replied.
"It seems like Elijah wants to make up though." Said Victoria.
"I know that, I'm just not ready though." Replied Tessa.
"I understand." Said Victoria.
"Thanks." Tessa replied.
Victoria smiled at Tessa, and they returned to riding in silence. All that echoed through their ears was the sound of their horse's hooves clacking against the sandstone path, along with the occasional grunt from the horses too. This pattern of silence followed up by conversation continued for the next 25 minutes until they finally saw the Ruins of Dunelvia in the distance, they then proceeded to ride to the entrance.
"Here we are." Said Victoria.
They dismounted their horses at the entrance, and walked inside together with their weapons at the ready just in case.
The interior of the ruins were what you'd expect from an ancient site. Withered sandy bricks, roots scouring the stone floor, and symbolic images engraved in the wall.
"I see why Keith wanted to explore these things, they're definitely quite the sight." Said Tessa.
They continued to scan the area with their eyes, seeing if they could spot the rune. That was what they were here for in the first place anyway. Tessa then spotted something In the centre of the ruin. There stood a rectangular pedestal, bearing engraved sun emblems in the middle of all four sides.
"Victoria, look at that." Said Tessa as she pointed at the pedestal.
Tessa walked up to the pedestal, examining it when she got up close. Victoria also noticed something, there was one specific engraving in the wall in front of them that intrigued her. It was a rectangle with the same sun emblem as the pedestal in the middle of the rectangle. As she examined it further, it finally clicked in her head.
"This engraving is the rune, and that pedestal could be what held it after it teleported itself. There's nothing on the pedestal though, so that could only mean one thing..." Victoria thought.
"Shit." Said Victoria.
"What?" Asked Tessa.
"Someone took the rune." Victoria replied.
"What? How do you know?" Asked Tessa.
"Look at that engraving on the wall, I think that is the rune. And if this pedestal shares the same insignia, that could mean that the rune was being held here..."
"...and someone's taken it." Victoria explained.
"Damn it!" Tessa exclaimed.
"What do we do?" Tessa continued.
