The rain pours
My reflection is now muddied as I stare down
The water calls to me
I watch it dance under the torrent
Slowing down time to stay in this forever
The canopy of leaves above me has always guarded against the storm
Unfailing,
Protective,
Suffocating.
The water will freeze my bones
My muscles will scream in defiance
All the air I hold within me will be trapped with no way out
But what is life without a little risk?
When will you stop being so afraid?
Even as the abuse halts,
the ripples cease
Will I always be stuck this way?
My leap of faith not so unfounded
I run towards the home that will cradle me
Invade me
As it kills me
And jump.
