Brittle mood, curled mattresses,
I should've known it was me.
Open door, frozen branches,
You left the saltbox house fearlessly.
I can see us forfeited for 5 months,
The unfaithful summer enveloped our love.
Whispered to me like the sound of guns,
That I will never be yours and your countless wives.
Your rear view beneath the sun,
I hope I can embed my character there.
You'll phone me in and I used to run,
So we can make ourselves in an old lair.
I can see you leaving the outskirts of town
Blinded by the solar light and lingered by marine life.
Flashes of a fogged memory came and took my crown,
And I had the news that you got another wife.
Back when we stood our feet together,
Yearning for you was still my thing.
I took an oath to be with you forever,
Nullify my schemes just in case you'd ring.
Drenched in unfaithful summer,
I wish I knew you better.
Said you love me but it wasn't real,
You didn't even hear what I felt.
