Chapter 7

The following day, Jimin’s group decided to gather together at a table during break for the project planning. He already knew his group was hopeless with three dumb bullies and a stubborn bad boy who had no interest in any academic activities. But since the project marks were essential for boards and he couldn’t change the groups formed anymore, so he had to adjust with it. Plus the marks earned from it will not only benefit him but Jungkook also in the boards for scoring better marks. Although his group was hopeless but he still had to keep hope that everything would go well.

“We can distribute the work equally so that nobody has to be burdened with doing extra work.”, Jimin stated, still reluctant to sit across Yeonsu, Baekhyeon and Heonseok. But strangely, with Jungkook sitting beside him, he didn’t feel as afraid. He felt safe around him even if Jungkook didn’t know about anything. “There are equally given topics to do, so each of us have to pick one topic and research about it and then write it on paper. If we spend this week in research, then next week we can write our respective topics so that we can submit it by the end of next week before time.”

“These topics are complex and too difficult. They aren’t even on the internet.”, Baekhyeon said in a bored tone.

“You have to read books in order to write them.”, Jimin replied, not being mindful of him.

Yeonsu sneered, “Do you think we have as much free time as you? If we read books, we might as well have been a nerd like you.”

“Mind your tongue while speaking to him.”, Jungkook spoke up in a calm but threatening tone, “My patience for bullshits and insults are limited.”

The three of them were surprised that Jungkook was defending Jimin. Jimin, too was surprised, Jungkook was the last person he expected to stand up for him. Honestly, he didn’t expect anyone would stand up for him at all.

“Did I say anything wrong?”, Yeonsu retorted, “He’s the only topper between us so only he can do the research well by reading books.”

“So you expect him to do the research for all five topics alone by himself? Might as well tell him to do the whole project alone and submit it.”, Jungkook replied sarcastically.

“Doesn’t seem like a bad idea.”, Heonseok smirked.

“You---”

“Jungkook.”, Jimin kept his hand on his shoulder, to stop him from arguing anymore. He sighed, “Fine, I’ll do all the research work.”

“Are you mad Jimin? How can you do this all alone?”, Jungkook frowned.

“Then are you going to do it? No right?”, Jimin said which shut him up. He then said softly so that others couldn’t hear, “Look Jungkook, they might not care about the project but it’s important for us. You and I both need to do it for marks which will be added with the boards. I can’t risk it just because they are not cooperating. Anyways, it’s mandatory to submit the project so even if it’ll be extra work, I’ll do it.”

“So now that you’ve decided to do it, then there’s nothing to discuss. We aren’t needed anymore.”, Yeonsu said, “Let’s go boys.”, he said as the three of them stood up.

“Wait.”, Jimin spoke looking at them, “If I’m going to do the research part then you’ll have to do the writing part. I’ll spend the week to gather the information and send it to you and you all need to write that on paper. You can’t do the research but you can write them, right?”

He didn’t know where his boldness came from, might be from Jungkook’s influence, but he didn’t regret speaking upto them. While Jungkook had a proud smirk on his face, Yeonsu narrowed his eyes at him but didn’t say anything as they all left. Jimin internally hoped that his boldness wouldn’t cost him any trouble.
