Chapter 5, Deadly life

The day I saw the sun

...

...

Ashlyn: ...

I stared in shock for a moment, not knowing what just happened or how it happened.

There were heads in the washing machine.

Heads.

And there were bodies kneeling next to it. Who's?

I slowly approached it and opened the door. I don't know what I was expecting.

A tsunami of nothing but blood spilled at my feet, drenching my shoes, and after that, with three dull thuds, rolled out three heads.

Sophie.

Chloe.

Rachel.

My breath hitched as I stumbled backwards, trying my best to support myself by placing my arm on the wall, but it was like my fingers had turned to jelly, and I simply collapsed onto the blood soaked ground, desperately trying to push myself away from the scene.

My mouth murmured incomprehensible things as the horrifying metallic stench overwhelmed my sense of smell and I threw up in my mouth. My legs still kicked hopelessly, and my brain desperately searched for something, anything, to rid this picture from my memory.

Sophie's head spun around lazily in the blood and stared at me.

I looked up at Ashton, who seemed to be having the same dilemma, except he was standing and I was on the ground, looking up at him.

Ashlyn: ...Ashton? What do we do...?

Ashton: Ash... Lyn...

I stared in confusion.

Ashlyn: Hey...

Click.

A familiar sound came from his direction.

He began to convulse.

His whole body shook as he gripped the edge of another washing machine and threw up onto the ground, his vomit mixing with the cold blood. His eyes were wide, but they glanced at me, then at the heads, then back at me again. It was a wild, frantic glance, as if he was begging for help.

I had seen that expression before.

Ashlyn: Ashton? Ashton!

Click.

I gathered my courage and brought myself to my feet, going up to him and gripping him by the shoulders as he seized even more. I was sure I'd never seen anyone seize this violently before, I was also sure he was starting to foam at the mouth.

But then he stopped.

Ashton went limp.

I gently placed him onto the ground and knelt next to him.

What was I going to do?

Ashlyn: The body discovery hasn't played, it's probably because we need three people to see the bodies in order for it to play...

I tapped Ashton again.

Ashlyn: Hey, you need to wake up.

Ashton stirred in his sleep, but then slowly regained consciousness.
