The sunset was warm, its golden rays casting shadows on faces and making blue hair look green. Xingqiu and Chongyun stood outside the archway leading into Liyue Harbour.
"Chongyun, dear, how would you like to go out to dinner with me?" Xingqiu asked as the pair walked on the bridge.
Briefly shocked, the young exorcist stood still, blinking at his partner as he processed his words.
"You aren't obligated to accept, it was simply a little proposal for some...quality time, just the two of us." Xingqiu spoke again, a small smile playing at his lips as he approached Chongyun.
The blue haired exorcist averted his gaze, opting to look at the sea instead, the sun making him squint.
"The sunset is beautiful, isn't it Xingqiu?"
"It is rather beautiful...did my question make you uncomfortable?"
"No, of course not I just...need some time to process and think." The claymore user admitted.
In response Xingqiu hugged him reassuringly with a smile, Chongyun returning the gesture as best as he could.
The two stood like that for what felt like an eternity before parting and continuing their walk into the harbour.
"Hm...do you think I should visit the bookstore before I return to the commerce guild?" The young swordsman wondered aloud.
A simple shrug is what he received from his companion.
"...I'll stop there after I walk you to your home then. We've had a full day of commissions after all." Xingqiu continued as he reached for Chongyun's hand, gently intertwining their fingers.
Chongyun gave a smile in return, locking their hands together before he began to walk towards his home.
The two arrived at their destination, Xingqiu allowing his partner some space to appear as if he were alone.
"Chongyun, you're home a bit early. Did you and your friend not spent much time out?" A woman questioned. She shared a hair colour with him, however, her eyes were a dark blue.
"We didn't even go out to hang out either way mama, we just did a few commissions." Chongyun's icy blue eyes focused on the wall behind his mother as he spoke, too nervous to look into her eyes.
"If you say so, come inside then. I just started cooking dinner." She replied with a small sigh before turning around to return to the kitchen.
Before he entered behind his mother he quickly turned to wave farewell to Xingqiu, watching as the swordsman returned the gesture before making his way to the bookstore.
After closing the door behind him, the young exorcist's shoulders slumped from exhaustion and the release of anxiety.
As he made his way to the kitchen, he contemplated. He contemplated if he should accept or reject Xingqiu's invitation. He contemplated whether to tell his parents about the true nature of his and Xingqiu's relationship. He had come out as bisexual to his parents and they were more than supportive of his identity but he was unsure how they would react to him being in a relationship with a boy, especially his best friend.
"I...I don't know, this is all so frustrating." He murmured to himself as he entered the kitchen.
He greeted his grandparents and his father before he sat down in his usual seat at the dining table.
"How did your commissions go?" Asked a brunet man with icy blue, cat like eyes, he was Chongyun's father and one of the many renowned exorcists of their family in Liyue.
