Gabriella stood in the elevator between Lexie and Alex in the early morning, the Grey girl having gone out of her way to buy the Castellanos girl a coffee. The two standing on the outside were standing quietly and awkwardly, while Gabriella simply enjoyed the coffee gifted to her when the elevator doors opened and more interns infiltrated the space.

Steve Mostow was in the middle of gushing about a fellow intern upon entering the elevator, "I heard he saved a guy who coded yesterday, by himself."

"He just knows things," another intern added in admiration, "Never messes up in rounds, always has the answer."

"And he's so calm," Laura added before looking over to Gabriella and giving her a nod of greeting, which the girl returned with a smile despite the stitching on her cheek, "I'm always terrified, but he's, like, steady," she continued.

"Best intern ever," Steve muttered before looking over at Gabriella with an admiring smile, "Almost," he corrected himself as some of the others nodded in agreement and Gabriella busied herself with her coffee.

"Hey, who are they talking about?" Alex whispered to Gabs and Lexie, leaning closer to the girl in the middle.

"George O'Malley," Lexie answered quietly.

"Seriously?" Alex asked in disbelief as he threw his arm over Gabriella's shoulder, ready to help her walk when the elevator stopped, "Don't they know that he-"

"Shh," both Lexie and Gabriella hushed the resident, who looked at them weirdly for it.

When the elevator stopped, everyone fled and Alex helped Gabriella out of the elevator, her knee in a brace but no crutches as she requested, "You know O'Malley's got these morons snowed?" Alex told Isabelle Stevens, who stood at the elevator doors looking for someone, "They don't even know he's a repeater."

"Yeah, whatever," Dr Stevens replied without much thought.

Alex led Gabriella towards a nurses' station where they started rounds and then were assigned tasks.

"Pierce you're in the pit. James, need you in peds. Gabs, you've been requested by Sloan. Laura you're on scut," he listed off.

"I was on scut yesterday," Laura argued.

"Oh, and just for that, you're on scut tomorrow," Alex retorted, "Get lost."

"That's sucky," Gabs commented as she walked away with Laura, "Maybe I can convince him to let me do scut tomorrow instead," she offered, causing Laura to smile softly.
