I entered the house, the silence was almost deafening. The only sound was the faint ticking of the grandfather clock in the living room. It was a sound that I had grown accustomed to, having spent countless hours studying in that same room. But today, it felt eerie. I knew something was off. And then it hit me - Dad must have been called into work, yet again. It seems like it has been happening frequently ever since he has been promoted to Sheriff. I made my way up the stairs, feeling a sense of urgency building up inside of me. I needed to find my wallet and fast. But as soon as I reached my room, I realized that it wasn't in its usual spot. I started frantically tossing things around, hoping to catch a glimpse of it. But no luck. Sweat beads started forming on my forehead. I couldn't afford to waste any more time. I was already running late for dinner with my friends and I still had to take a shower.. As I looked around, I couldn't help but feel frustrated with myself. Why was I always so careless? It was a constant battle to keep track of my things. My dad often joked about strapping a GPS tracker to all my belongings, and right now, I wished he had. It would have saved me a lot of trouble.

As I frantically searched through my bag for the second time, I couldn't shake off the feeling of panic creeping up on me. I had already gone through my bag in the car, but the thought of losing my wallet made me anxious. I wanted to be absolutely sure that it wasn't lost in the abyss of my bag. With shaky hands, I started tossing my belongings out of my bag, one by one. The sound of my belongings hitting the floor echoed through the quiet room. My heart was racing as I rummaged through the items, hoping to find my wallet. Just as I was about to give up, I heard a clunking sound. My eyes darted to the floor at my feet and there it was - my damn wallet. I let out a sigh of relief, feeling grateful and annoyed at the same time. It was right there in plain sight all along, and I had wasted so much time and energy searching for it. I quickly placed it into my purse and hopped in the shower as I rinsed off.

As I stepped out of the shower, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. The warm water had helped ease the tension and stress from my body, leaving me feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day ahead. I reached for the soft, fluffy towel hanging from the hook and wrapped it around my body, feeling the soft material against my skin. As I wiped away the condensation from the mirror, I couldn't help but feel a pang of insecurity as I looked at my reflection. The scars left behind from my Freshman and Sophomore acne still lingered, causing me to feel self-conscious. However, I quickly shook off those negative thoughts and reached for my trusty concealer. With a few dabs, I covered up the blemishes along my jawline and cheeks, feeling more confident with each stroke. I then grabbed my mascara, carefully coating my long lashes to make them stand out. Finally, I reached for my blow dryer, expertly styling my hair until it was sleek and shiny. With a final glance in the mirror, I felt ready to face the day with confidence and poise.
