(F/N) continued going over the different information that he has gathered as he dedicated himself to try and stop Nightmare and his assault on the dreams behind a barrier.
What he had learned so far was that Nightmare was the one behind all of the current nightmares plaguing Hogwarts, and he has been attacking that barrier, so there had to be some kind of connection. And the nightmares themselves have something to do with someone's past, hence Harry's repeating dream of Sirius Black and the creatures in robes, and Ron's dream of the spiders in the Forbidden Forest, although the whole "learning to dance" bit rather weird in a nightmare. But this was contradicted by (FN)'s nightmare of the woman and the wolf (who he believes to be Sirius himself) pulling him in both directions; he doesn't remember any of what happened during that moment.
Then there are the dreams that are behind that barrier. They're much more different than the nightmares that have been happening to everyone. For one, the person having those weird dreams sort of look through the eyes of another person, like how (F/N) looked through the eyes of the younger sister to the commander, and Luna looking through the eyes of the blonde-haired girl. They can view the dream, but they can't speak, can't move, and there was some basic understanding of the situation they were in. It was those kinds of dreams that Nightmare wants, but why? Unless he was able to alter those dreams as well. But what was so special about them?
Next piece of the puzzle, that has to fit in somewhere, was the whole thing with Agamotto and the other gods. (F/N) pieced together that he has the amulet Agamotto used, but what of the others? How do they fit into this puzzle?
So while he may have figured out Nightmare and the nightmares, he didn't know what was so special about those dreams behind the barrier and the other gods, alongside Agamotto, that have some bearing to this.
So that all comes down to the main focus; how was he going to defeat Nightmare? He's powerful. If he's the "King of Dreams" like he claims, then perhaps he has the ability to alter reality inside the Dream Dimension, hence the clones. And (F/N)'s magic wasn't powerful at all. His shields were destroyed and his spells rebounded. In hindsight, he was rather lucky to pull off Rictumsempra, otherwise he would've probably been killed!
The thought of it made his breath shudder. None, not even when he went to the doctors for his hands, had he ever encountered the risk of dying. The thought of just drifting in the void, or becoming a ghost like Helena.
In his attempts to calm himself down, he grabbed a seat next to the window in the Ravenclaw common room, and cracked it open. He let a nice breeze blow through, and looked out over the gounds of the school, hoping the serenity of the day would calm his nerves.
The cloak drifted over to him, blocking the breeze so that studying students weren't disturbed by the gust of winds. If (F/N) opened his third eye, he would be able to see the look of worry the late Professor Levitate had on her face. She could tell what he was thinking, and wanted to console him in any way she could, though being a cloak didn't seem to be much help.
"What do I do, Professor?" (F/N) asked the cloak, thinking for a moment that she would answer his question. "If I don't stop Nightmare, then everyone here in this school will suffer, and he might get what he wants. I don't eve know what he hopes to gain, but somewhere in my gut I feel that it's not going to be good." Levitate didn't bother wondering why a student of all people should handle this responsibility, or why he believes it's his duty to help them when they didn't ask. The only thing she could think of doing was simply floating over to him and allowing only the head part of the cloak wrap around his shoulders, as if Levitate herself was leaning down to hug him. For a brief moment, though it felt like there was nothing, (F/N) softly chuckled. "She's right," he began, "you are warm."
