Chapter 4: The Lucky White Stagg Comes to Gotham

Adam, Addison, and Maxie sat on some stairs outside Gotham High School when suddenly they were approached by the most popular girl in their grade, Kelly Charisma. "What do you want Kelly?!" Barked Addison as she got very defensive.
"Adam can I talk to you, alone." She stated as she glared at his friends.
"Sure." Said Adam as he stood but Addison grabbed his arm.
"Are you really gonna fall for this?" Asked Addison as Maxie nodded.
"Dude, I know you've had a crush on her since freshman year but she's bad news." Said Maxie as Adam nodded.
"Yeah but we're just gonna talk how bad could it get?" Asked Adam in an optimistic tone as he walked over to talk with Kelly.
"Do you wanna come to a party with me?" Asked Kelly as Adam grinned.
"Absolutely!" Said Adam with a grin.
"Great, it's at my Dad's summer cabin out in Robinson Park this Friday night, see ya there." Said Kelly as Adam walked back over to his friends with a giddy looking grin on his face.
"She invited me to a party." Said Adam with a grin as Addison and Maxie both looked at him.
"Dude it's totally a trap." Said Maxie as Addison nodded.
"Adam, you're not this stupid! Think for one second after years of ignoring you now she pays attention to you!" Said Addison as Adam gained a sour look.
"You guys see nothing but the bad stuff about Kelly!" Said Adam as he grabbed his backpack and stormed off.

Later during the same day Sarah sat in her office doing some paperwork even though it was her day off. She sat there typing until suddenly there was a knock at the front door.
"Daniel!" Called Sarah as she continued to type but there was no response. "Adam!" She called as again there was no response. "Lorraine?" She asked softly but knew there would be no response so she sighed and stood. She walked out of the room and out to the door. When she opened it she saw Addison standing there gripping her backpack straps tight.
"Hey Miss- I mean, Dr. Ivory." Said Addison as she shrugged in that soft yet nervous kind of way she always addressed Sarah. Addison had always seemed nervous around Sarah because during Sarah's time in Arkham Adam had brought Addison, who was at the only time Adam's only friend, over to the asylum and insisted that Addison meet her whilst she was incarcerated at the asylum. Addison had always been quite nervous around Sarah since she was technically incarcerated by request of the state government and was legally prescribed antipsychotics to keep her mental health in check. Since typically people in Gotham who had been in a similar situation tended to fall into crime Sarah always knew that her background including just the knowledge that her father was the Joker made on edge around so she didn't blame Addison for being nervous around her.
"Oh, sorry Addison, Adam isn't home, I think he's out with his father." Said Sarah as she tried to close the door but Addison slammed her hand against it.
"Actually I was hoping to talk with you." Said Addison with a small smile as Sarah loosened her grip on the door. "If that's ok?" Asked Addison as she returned to her sheepish demeanor that she always had around Sarah. Sarah opened the door wide and smiled knowing full well from what her son had told her about Addison was that the girl didn't really have a female influence in her life so Sarah wanted to help her as much as she could, hopefully to be the female influence that she needed.
"Of course, please come in." Said Sarah with a smile. Addison walked inside and set down her stuff. She sat down with Sarah in the dining room and the two began to talk. "So what did you need my help with?" Asked Sarah as Addison sighed.
"Adam is about to do something really stupid and I tried to talk him out of it but he wouldn't listen." Said Addison as Sarah perked up.
"What is he about to do?" Asked Sarah as Addison stuttered for a moment.
"Well there's this girl at school that he's had a crush on since freshman year but honestly I don't know why! Dr. Ivory, she treats him like dirt! Ya know once she threw a carton of milk at him in 8th grade but somehow he still likes her! Today she invited him to a party and I know it's bad news but he won't listen." Said Addison as she sighed. "I was hoping you could convince him not to go, like ground him or make him keep an eye on his sister! Just something to keep him from going to that party! Please!" Addison begged her as Sarah held out her hand.
"Addison why don't you tell me why you don't want him to go to this party?" Asked Sarah as she already knew the answer but she wanted Addison to say it, she knew Addison knew that Addison needed to hear herself say it.
"Because this girl is awful and I know she's gonna humiliate him! Please don't make him learn the hard way!" Addison begged as Sarah sighed.
"Addison I think you are the only one who can convince my son not to go after this girl." Said Sarah as Addison was taken back.
"Me! Why?!" Asked Addison in a shocked tone.
"Please Addison, I've known that you liked my son since the day that I met you. You not only admire him but you stand by him and those are things I wish his father had learned years ago." Said Sarah as Addison sighed.
"I guess you're right." Said Addison as she stood.
"Thanks for hearing me out at least, Dr. Ivory." Said Addison as she walked out and left.

Later that night Adam and Daniel got ready for the party. As Daniel adjusted Adam's tie. "There we go, how does that look?" Asked Daniel as he adjusted Adam's lapel.
"I'm glad you let me wear one of your suits." Said Adam as he stared at himself in the mirror.
"Of course, this one of my old ones from when I was your age anyway." Said Daniel as he stared at Adam then walked over to his nightstand and plucked a flower from the vase. "Here, a flower in your lapel can mean worlds to a young girl, that's how I caught your mother's attention." Said Daniel as he put the flower in Adam's lapel.
"I thought she said it was your charm and skills on the piano?" Asked Adam as Daniel smirked.
"It was a lot of things." Said Daniel with a smirk.

That night Adam stepped up to the door at the cabin and knocked at the door but who was to open it but none other than Matthew Percy, Adam's biggest bully. As Adam lunged away but Matthew grabbed him by his tie. "Hey Adam!" Said the larger boy as he walked him through the hall. "You were just the guy I was looking for." Said Matthew as he walked Adam through a door then over to the fireplace then suddenly Adam was doused in an entire bucket of white paint. Adam backed into the fireplace so hard that he knocked the ornamental deer skull off of the mantle. The deer skull fell down so hard that not only did it land on Adam's head it got stuck on his head as if he were wearing it like a mask. He pulled on the skull trying to get it off but no matter how hard he pulled he couldn't. Everyone laughed at him so at this point Adam ran off feeling completely humiliated.

Adam walked through Gotham feeling completely down then suddenly there was a scream down an alley. Adam kept walking trying to avoid the feeling of dread he got from the thought of passing by them but suddenly there was a voice in his head. "You need to do something Adam!" Said the voice as Adam shook his head.
"No, it's not our business!" Said Adam quietly as the woman kept screaming. Suddenly Adam felt himself drifting away. "No...... it's....not....our.... business..." He mumbled before his second personality took over.

Once his second personality was in control he charged across the street and then tackled the man who had been robbing this woman and attempting to hurt her. He beat the crook down harshly and firmly making certain he would stay down then he returned the stolen goods to the woman who laid on the ground frozen. "Th-thank you." She stated softly. Suddenly people started crowding around with their cellphones out recording him. He covered his face but knew he had to get out of there quickly so he used parkour to get out of there. By jumping off the blank wall of the alley then gripping tightly onto the railing of the fire escape of the opposing building. He climbed up and ran off back home eventually climbing in through his bedroom window and laying in bed with a sigh.

The next morning Adam woke up late since it was the weekend and came down seeing his family sitting down to breakfast. As Adam collected some food from the large skillet on the stove. Suddenly the morning chatter had gone quiet. "And now to Vicki Vale with some startling news from last night." Said the anchor man.
"Good morning Gotham, today I informed you that Batman isn't the only vigilante keeping our streets safe. Last night GCPD phones were ringing off the hook as a young woman claimed that a man dressed in a white suit and a male deer skull rescued her from certain danger." Said Vicki as Adam grew stiff. "We got an exclusive interview with the woman in question." Said Vicki as the screen changed over to the woman that Adam's second personality had rescued last night.
"I was walking home after work and this guy with a knife jumped me and with what I had heard Batman has been getting kinda sloppy so I thought it was over for me then this tall man dressed in all white and a deer skull attacked him. He hit him once in the knee and twice in the face and the man completely unconscious! He handed me back my purse and my necklace. His voice was kind and sweet completely different than anyone's interactions with Batman. When people started recording him he scaled the building and was gone!" Said the woman as the screen clicked back over to Vicki.
"Well Gotham it seems that just when our spirits were low we have been gifted with a lucky White Stagg. Make sure you stay safe out there Gotham because if you don't feel safe, our lucky White Stagg will certainly make you feel safer." Said Vicki as it clicked over to the weather.

Adam froze there standing in the kitchen as he looked over out of the corner of his eye he saw the white light of his second personality which suddenly shifted to the image of himself covered in the white paint and wearing the deer skull. "Stagg, I like that name." Said the hallucination as Adam sighed.
