Chrysanthemum was sitting in the living room working on her homework when Severus entered. She didn't bother looking up and continued working "How was your classes?" Severus asked trying to fill the silence
"Okay" Chrysanthemum shrugged "Not all of them" she added flipping the page in her book to look for something
"Oh?" Severus asked taking a seat across from her
"Yeah, my potion professor can't seem to explain anything in a way that makes sense," she explained blithely, making Severus' eyes narrow. Since getting married half a month ago she has never once insulted him, yet she just did and right to his face
Today's potion class did not end well. Her, Neville and Ron were paired up together and made the cauldron explode
"Maybe if you pay attention, the things he told you would make more sense" he bit out "I do pay attention" Chrysanthemum insisted as she stopped working "It just doesn't seem to do any good! He doesn't give good directions. I do exactly what he tells me to do and my potion still blows up in my face"
"Exactly what he tells you!" Severus leaped up to his feet making Chrysanthemum stand up as well "You chopped instead of slice, dice or silver. You don't mash, ground, or grind any of your ingredients properly and you fling them together as if you're making a stew instead of a magical potion!"
"Well excuse me for following your directions. You tell me to add a cup of Ansil Weed, I add a cup. You tell me to add a salamander tongue, I add a salamander tongue. And then you tell me I did everything wrong!"
"I told you to add a cup of DICED Ansil Weed and a SLIVERED of salamander tongue!"
"They all turn to mush in the cauldron anyway. Why the hell does it matter if they're diced, sliced or mashed!?"
"Of course it matters. The preparation changes the properties of the ingredients. Any five-year-old witch knows that"
"I was never a five-year-old witch!" Chrysanthemum shouted back. Once again Severus was thrown back to a month ago when they first found out everything, remembering that she grew up knowing nothing about their world "Come here" he ordered walking towards his private lab
Chrysanthemum took a deep breath to get her emotions in check before following after him, when she entered the room she saw him rummaging through his shelves looking for something.
He turned around with a jar in hand to see his wife standing near his set up, with a frown on her face as she watched him. He opened the jar and pulled out several sugar roots before picking up a sharp knife. He began cutting through the roots with quick strokes of the knife before dicing some, slicing's others and chopping the rest before dropping some into a mortar, making some into paste and grinding the others
"Taste" he held out one of the untouched roots. Chrysanthemum leaned forward biting off a small portion "It's sugar root" she shrugged "It's sweet" Severus picked up one of the sliced pieces and held it up to her mouth "Taste" he ordered again
Chrysanthemum let him put the root into her mouth "It's not as sweet" Chrysanthemum told him shifting in her spot. Severus hummed, satisfied picking up a diced root, holding it up to her mouth again, feeding it to her. "It's salty" she scrunched up her nose
Severus couldn't help but think she was cute when looking like that "Here" he held up a chopped root "Trat!" Chrysanthemum looked up at her husband confused and ashamed
Not seeing her expression, Severus gathered some of the grounded root and dipped his finger into the bowl and held it up to her mouth. Chrysanthemum looked up at him taking his finger in her mouth, Severus looks at his wife eyes going dark with lust
