Our main hero of the story, none other than Jacob Portman.
First off, appearance: I actually like how he looks in the movie. It's not how I imagined him to look like, but it's not too far off either. There are a ton of people that seem to love how he looks too, and I don't blame them.
I also like his personality. He's a smart and curious guy. Not to mention I related a lot to him when he said he wanted to be an explorer. I do wish he was written better in the book and movie. Especially the movie; he barely had any personality in the movie.
I know I've said this before already, but his peculiarity is very cool. Try to convince me that being able to control an invisible tentacle monster from H.P Lovecraft isn't cool. Just imagine Jacob keeping one as a pet too.
