"I'm proud of you, you know." I froze in place as I finished tying my hair back up in a ponytail, Clarke stopped in front of me, Wells next to me. We have been walking for about 20 minutes in silence while the two idiots are behind us.

"What?" I looked at her as if I was a deer in headlights. Those few words are ones that I rarely hear. The last time I heard those words was from my dad, the last time I came in first in my last guard training before being arrested.

"I know you heard me. And I mean it. You've been up and enjoying everything. You've spoken more in the last day than you have in the past year. You're going out to find a new friend who's been taken. I know you hurt yourself last night but you're improving. I don't know if it's because we're on the ground or what but don't stop. Don't shut us out again. We're here for you. And now Finn is too."

It took me a few seconds for me to come out of my shock and give her a real smile. We continued walking as I thought to myself. What if this is my second chance? What if I do deserve this? Being free and enjoying myself. Protecting my people. That is what I was going to do on the ark. I was about to become part of the guard when I turned 18 but things happened and now I am here. I am living and protecting. I can start again.

"Hey, hold up. What's the rush? You don't survive a spear through the heart." But alas, dinglebrain had to ruin my peace. We turned to face him to see him waving around the gun. "Put the gun away, Bellamy."

"Well, why don't you do something about it, huh?" Wells was pushed by Murphy which made me push him away from Wells. "Back off, Murphy." He seemed taken aback as I stood in front of Wells. No one will hurt Wells. Not on my watch. He might be the chancellor's son, but that didn't mean he deserved to be picked on because of his father's actions.

"Jasper screamed when they moved him. If the spear struck his heart, he'd have died instantly. It doesn't mean we have time to waste."

"As soon as you take your wristbands off, we can go." Bellamy grabbed our arms harshly before Clarke could walk away. I instantly brought a knife to his throat which caused him to tense up. His slightly nervous eyes met my cold ones before Clarke started speaking. "The only way the Ark is gonna think we're dead is if we're dead. Got it?"

Clarke yanked her arm from his grasp as he still held mine. His eyes darted Wells and me before meeting Clarke's, my knife still close to his neck. "Brave princess." He started walking closer to us, intimidating us. I stumbled back as his body came closer, Clarke's hand gently pulling me back, my knife still in the air. Chills ran through my body and not in a good way.

The way he was taking his steps reminded me of the moments before that guard touched me on the ark. My breathing got a little heavy as my eyes stayed on his. The guys, especially Bellamy seemed to notice my mood change and he was about to say something but luckily, a new and familiar voice came behind him, making me relax a bit.

"Hey. Why don't you find your own nickname? You call this a rescue party? Got to split up, cover more ground. Rory, Clarke, come with me." I hesitated for a bit, my knife still pointed at Bellamy, weary that he might do something. "Ro, he's not gonna hurt you. Come on." Clarke tugged at my arm softly and I brought my knife down, putting it back in my jacket.

I followed them as we continued our way to find Jasper, Finn and Clarke waiting until I was with them. Finn brought his hand around my back, making me walk in front of him as he glared at Bellamy. "Better late than never." I sighed as I pulled two knives out of my makeshift bag. "I like to think so."

I passed them to Finn and he took them with his eyebrows raised. "You made these?" I nodded my head with a proud smile as he placed him around his body. "That's impressive." We all smiled and Clarke started bragging about me. "Just wait until she shows what she's really capable of. She wasn't lying about coming in first in guard training." I sheepishly blushed as they both just softly laughed.
