"Hello, Rowan." I turn to my left at Jasper's voice, a small smile on his face. "Good morning Jasper. How you feeling?" He pushes himself to sit as I move to sit next to him. "Pretty good. If it wasn't for the scar, I would've thought it was a dream." I smiled at him as I passed him a cup of water.

"What about you? How are you feeling?" It had been 3 days since the fog and everything after that. When Jasper was fully awake, I gave Monty permission to inform Jasper. "I'm doing good. Unlike solitary, being around people seems to help a lot more. I hugged Wells again yesterday when he found this at the lake." I lifted the necklace that Finn made me the night we got Jasper back. "I guess it came off when I went under. I never realized I didn't have it."

He hummed but we were interrupted when Monty came back up. "Hi."

"Sup, Monty. Ready to get back to work." He rolled his eyes at me before walking back to the wristband that was Octavia's. I just chuckled at his reaction. "Alright, well, I leave you two to it. Gotta help with the wall and make sure Murphy doesn't cause someone to explode. Again." They both waved before I went down and out of the dropship.

Since we found out about the grounder the first day, Bellamy decided to build a wall around camp. He and his goons were in charge of making sure everyone was doing their job. "Good morning Rowan. Whatcha up to?"

I smiled at Octavia as she stopped in front of me. "Nothing. I was about to go ask Bellamy what I could help with. Just hope he doesn't make me separate the wood again. That was ungodly boring." She laughed at me before telling me she was going to see Jasper.

Before I went to see Bellamy, I made my way to Clarke on the far left of camp. "So what's the plan for today?"

"You are going on a hunting trip today."

"Yes! Ugh, oh my god, thank you! I was dreading going to Bellamy. Knowing him he'll make me do something easy." She motioned me to walk with her and I did. "I know you like to be challenged. Took a bit to convince him and Murphy. You'll be going with Miller, Wells, and a few others." I made a salute and she just giggled as we approached the boys.

Once we got geared up, we made our way out. We had decided to split up in groups of 3 since there were 9 of us. Of course, I went with Miller and Wells. We had caught a few bunnies, which I felt bad because they were cute, and a boar, which was a lot heavier than I thought. The sun was already going down when we all got back.

"What did you catch today?" Murphy walked up to us as soon as we made it past the walls. "A few bunnies and a boar." Miller said as I pulled out a bunny and brought it close to Murphy's face. He quickly moved out of the way with a grimace. "And who caught the boar?"

Wells and Miller unproudly pointed at me as I just held a proud look. "Right in the head." Murphy tried to not look as impressed but I could see right through him. "Not bad, Kane." "Oh, please. You're impressed. I can see right through you." He just rolled his eyes as he walked away. "He's impressed." The boys just walked away with smiles.

We dropped the animals to the ones that had the guts to skin them. I always praised them because god knows that I can't do that. My stomach will bring up whatever is in it just at the sight of them skinning it.

An hour later, the sun was gone and dinner was ready. Everybody got their share and the rest was stored in metal containers that we made the other day. Everybody was pretty satisfied and some went to bed. The camp was filled with more make-shift tents around. Those who didn't have one, or just simply were too lazy to make one, slept in the dropship. I shared a tent with Clarke but alternated between the tent and the dropship.

Tonight, I was going for the tent since I spent last night in the dropship. I made my rounds to check up with everyone before making my way out of the walls. I spotted Wells and sat next to him. We talked for a while, just catching up on everything. It was then that I finally found out why he was arrested.

"Wait, so you destroyed the last tree?" I whisper-yelled at him.

"No, no. I just damaged it. More like threw it to the ground. It's still alive." I hummed as I tried to imagine him throwing it. Keyword: tired. "I wonder how grams reacted to that. She and many others worshiped that tree. Which I understand. It gave them hope about coming down one day." I stared at the stars above, searching for the ark.

"She'll come down. They all will. We just need to contact them." He softly shoved my shoulder with his. "It would be a lot easier if the communication panel worked. I could fix it if I had more material. We have the panels and the satellite. Where's Zero-G's best mechanic when you need her?" I leaned on Wells and he brought his arm around my shoulders. "We can do it. I believe in us. They'll all be down here soon."

~~~~~~~
"Rowan. Wake up!" My parachute blanket was ripped away from me but I just simply curled back into a ball. "5 more minutes." I mumbled to whoever it was. "Rowan. It's Wells." I snapped my eyes open to see Finn. "What? What about Wells?" I sat up and Finn just grabbed my boots and placed them on my bed. "Just- come on."
I quickly put them on and ran outside to catch up with him. It was barely dawn, no one was awake yet besides the ones on watch. "Finn, what happened to Wells? Is he okay?" I grabbed his arm stopping him. He looked as if he was trying to find the right words, a sad yet unsure look. My heart and breathing were picking up the more I waited.
"Rowan. Wells... I found Wells outside the wall. He's dead." I blinked a few times, trying to process what he just said. "No. No, Wells can't be dead." I ran past him to where I was with Wells last night. And surely enough, Wells was there. He was lying on the small hill that we were sitting on last night, a shirt covering his face.
I froze, standing a few feet away. My vision was blurred by the tears I holding. I carefully stepped forward and crouched down beside him. I reached for the shirt but stopped to take a deep breath. 'If I pull it down, I'll see that he's really gone. I need to.'
With a shaky hand, I pull down the shirt. His eyes were still open, lifeless. His skin and lips were pale. Blood stained his neck and down his shirt. He was stabbed in the neck. I reached for his face with one hand and closed his eyes with the other. Tears silently fell down my cheeks as I just stared at his face.
"Should've stayed with him. I was with him last night. We were talking, catching up on what we missed. We were smiling and laughing." My voice was strained and thick. I just lost one of my best friends.
"You couldn't have known. And even if you did stay, who to say the same wouldn't happen to you?" I covered Wells' face with the shirt and turned to Finn. "Who else did you tell?"
"No one. I was out last night and I just got back and found him and I immediately went to get you." I nodded as I turned back to Wells and sat down on the dirt. "You need to get Clarke and Bellamy. Now. I'll stay here." My voice faltered towards the end and I didn't even turn around but I did hear his footsteps retreating.
I lost a loved one, again. I lost my best friend. I lost Wells... Just when things seemed to be getting better, he was taken away from us. He and Clarke cleared the tension just yesterday. He finally told her the truth about her dad. Everything was going okay. 'But now he's gone.'
"Oh my god. Thelonious just lost the last of his family." As much as I somewhat started to hate Jaha the last few years, he didn't deserve to lose his son. He lost his wife years ago. And now his son. Sure, we sent his son to the unknown earth with 99 other kids but at least they knew were still alive. A waterfall of tears came down just the thought of losing your entire family.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when quick footsteps came around. I looked over my shoulder to see Finn, Clarke, and Bellamy. Bellamy looked shocked while Finn watched Clarke move closer. Her eyes moved from Wells to my red, teary eyes.
My breathing became quicker as I prepared the words but even I was having trouble containing my emotions. But I just decided to release it all and choked on the two words that escaped my lips.
"He's dead."
A/N: Short chapter! Honestly, Wells deserved better. I cried at his death so much. I wasn't expecting him to die so early. :(
