The sound of something rumbling in the distance woke me up. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, shaking the sleepiness away. I was stretching when the hatch was pushed open, revealing Octavia. "Rowan come quick! You need to see this." She disappeared just as quickly and the urgency in her voice made me spring up and down the ladder.

I left my jacket but adjusted my beanie on my head. I quickly walked out and everyone was waking up and coming out, looking at the sky. When I did, a bright light was flying threw it. At first, I thought it was a comet since we had seen a few throughout the years on the ark but it was coming towards Earth. Then the outline of a pod became clear. Octavia called Bellamy as she stood beside me.

"There!" She pointed at the pod and in that instance, a parachute deployed from it. "They're coming to help us. Now we can kick some grounder ass!" Jones said as others started to gather around with smiles. I nudged Octavia and we smiled at each other, the thought of finally having some help was great. But my smile faltered when I realized that we didn't contact them.

"Please tell me they brought down shampoo." Roma said, who I know realized was wrapped in a blanket with what looks like barely not clothes next to a shirtless Bellamy. "Really? That's the first thing you think about?" I gave her a look and she just shrugged her shoulders.

We all watched as the pod landed and Bellamy ordered everyone to do whatever they were doing and went to the strategizing tent with some of his goons. He told me to join them which I was a bit shocked at. "If it cleared the ridge then it's probably near the lake." I leaned my arms on the table that had a small map of the area around us. Octavia then came in.

"We should get moving. Everyone's ready." I nodded as I walked around them to Octavia. "Okay. I'll gather some weapons just in case."

"No one's going anywhere. Not while it's dark it isn't safe. We'll head out at first light; pass the word." Jones and two others left as I watched Bellamy confused. "Everyone for a hundred miles saw this thing come down. What if the grounders get to it first? Bell, we should go now." Octavia blocked his way and she was right. "Bellamy. Octavia's right. They could already be heading to the pod. If they get whatever is in there, we're screwed."

"I said we wait till sunrise." And with that, he left. Octavia was about to follow him but I grabbed her arm first. "He's crazy if he thinks they won't go for it. I need you to cover for me for as long as you can. I'm going for that pod."

"Wait, Rowan! No! You can't go by yourself. Let me come with you."

"You can't. Your brother will know something's up with both of us gone. Plus, I have seen that pod before." Octavia looked at me confused as she waited for me to explain. "Before I was arrested before I dedicated my time to fully train for the guard, I spent some time in engineering and mechanics with my mom in Mecha. There are only a handful of pods like that one. They have to be manually flown."

"Someone's in the pod." Octavia said as she realized what I was getting at. "Exactly. And if we wait until sunrise, the grounders could do who-knows-what with whoever is piloting that pod. And I know some who are such daredevils to come to the ground now that we're here."

After a little more convincing her, Octavia agreed to cover for me while I went to the pod as long as I promised to come back unscratched. And so, I went back into the dropship, grabbed my jacket, weapons, some bandages, and water, and sneaked out of camp. I walked, or more like jogged, for a while.

The sun was out and at this point, I felt like I was just running in the wrong direction. I was about to go back when I heard rustling up ahead. I grabbed my bow and loaded an arrow, carefully walking towards the noise.
