Daryl rummaged through a cabinet and pulled out a box of bottles. Beth asked what it was and he replied with the single word "Moonshine"

Daryl restlessly rummaged through one of the cabinets then pulling out a wooden box which around 10 bottles of liquor were in. "Moonshine," He announced before grabbing a bottle out of the box and passing it to Beth. "Thats a real first drink there," He told her, but instead of accepting it with a smile her face wore a hesitant frown. "What's the matter?" He asked her while grabbing a glass and pouring some into it for her to taste.

"My dad always said bad moonshine can make you go blind," She mumbled, glaring towards the glass as if it was a person she felt pure hatred for.

"Ain't nothing worth seeing out there anymore anyway" I mentioned to her and she nodded slowly before lifting the glass up to her lips with her shaky hand. She took her first sip before letting out a small wince.

"Thats the most disgusting thing i've ever tasted" Coughed Beth as her nose scrunched at the strange smell yet she took another sip and finished the glass, preparing to pour another one.

"Slow down," Daryl warned her, she passed the drink over to him offering him some of the alcohol but he declined. "Someone's gotta keep watch, besides she's probably gonna want some." He pointed over towards me as I searched through the cabinets on the other side of the room.

"So what your my chaperone now?" Beth chuckled taking another wary sip and gazing up towards him.

"Drink lots of water" Joked daryl while disguising it as a murmur while walking off to the window with a large wooden plank in hand along with a hammer and some metal nails.

"Yes mr dixon," She laughed to herself as she finished another glass, her taste buds now becoming used to the taste of alcohol in her system.

"I think I hear a walker," I mentioned and the whole room fell silent, Daryl then lifting up the curtain and noticing the stray rotter clawing against the outside walls.

"It's just one, we're fine for now," Daryl announced before continuing to hammer the nails into the wooden plank.

"Hey if we get stuck here we might aswell make the best of it," I said as I grabbed two bottles of moonshine while walking over towards Daryl to hand him one. His fingers gently brushed against mine as he took it out of my hands. "Oh hell" He took a quick sip. I decided to rest on a more comfortable piece of furniture than a stool so I sat myself down on the floral, old-fashioned armchair which had clearly seen better days.

Daryl glanced over his shoulder with his bottle in hand, pointing towards the armchair where he grumbled. "Move,"

"No I was here first" A grin spread across my face and then Daryl took a seat next to me on the armchair which couldn't fit the both of us on. We were squashed against eachother when I moved a bit slightly. Unknowingly I was practically sitting on Daryl's lap while downing my bottle of moonshine.

"How bout we play a game? Suggested beth.
"A drinking one?" I looked to her and gave her a slight smile. "So I say something i've never done and if you have done it, then you drink but if you haven't then I drink. Then we switch,"

"I've never shot a crossbow" Admitted Beth and then Daryl took a sip of his drink.

"I don't know, i've never been out of georgia" He looked to beth and they continued with their game as I sat and watched.

"I've never been to prison," She chuckled to herself and looked down.

Daryl stayed silent for a moment and then responded "that's what you think of me?" he spat instantly becoming agitated.

"No I wasn't-" apologised beth but then she was cut off immediately.

He stood up off of the armchair and glared down to beth beginning to yell, "i've never eaten frozen yogurt, never had a pet pony, never got nothing from santa claus, never relied on anyone for protection before. Hell I don't think i've relied on anyone for anything! Never sung out infront of a big group out in public like everything was fun, like everything was a big game. Sure as hell never cut my wrists looking for attention!" Beth's jaw dropped slightly in horror that he would bring it up.

"Daryl! Why the fuck would you say that!" I scolded, he shot me a quick glare then stomping out of the house due to the thumping of the walker, he fired an arrow pinning it to the tree waiting for me and Beth to emerge from the house.

I raised my knife instantly while Daryl continued to shoot arrows into the walkers body for so called target practise. I threw my knife straight forward the air, landing on the walkers forehead. Daryl kissed his teeth then turning around to face me and Beth with a sour expression.

"What'd you do that for huh?" He yelled, swinging his arm forward and then noticing beth shaking her head in disapproval and then looked over to beth, "What do you want!"

"I want you to stop acting like you don't give a crap about anything, like nothing we went through matters and like none of the people we lost meant anything to you. It's bullshit!" Screamed out Beth.

"You don't know nothing," Grumbled daryl.

"I know you look at me and you see another dead girl, i'm not Michonne, i'm not Carol, i'm not Maggie. I've survived and you don't get it because i'm not like you or them. You don't get to treat me like crap because you're afraid." She shouted, her voice creaking as she called herself a dead girl.

"I ain't afraid of nothing," Spat Daryl, arguing back.

"I remember when that little girl came out the barn after my mom. You were like me and god forbid you let anyone get too close to you now," Stated Beth.

"You lost two boyfriends you can't shed a tear, your whole family's gone and all you're looking for is a fucking drink!" He yelled at Beth as she approached him closer yet I remained stood at the porch of the house.

"Everyone we know is dead!" He yelled out and Beth countered, "You don't know that!"

"Might aswell be cause you ain't gonna see 'em again. Rick, Glenn, Carl, Judith! You ain't ever gonna see Maggie again!" He swung his arm once again, leaving Beth speechless as I could simply hear the whimpers escaping her mouth as she wiped the tears away from her eyes.

"Shut your mouth!" I finally screamed out to capture their attention, they both turned around instantly to face me.

"No! You don't know what even happened, the governor rolled right up to our gates, maybe if i wouldn't have stopped looking then that's on me." Daryl's tone changed from anger to misery while changing his conversation back to beth, "Your dad.. maybe i could've done something." He shook his head, hiding his teary eyes from the two of us he turned away. Beth hesitantly reached for him, then pulling him into a hug from behind.

The sunlight then soon transformed into a peaceful glow from the moon, Daryl and Beth were having a conversation about the past and their old group, sitting outside on the porch steps. I rested with my back against the door, avoiding the conversation and I zoned out thinking about my own past while they thought about theirs.

I slowly shut my eyes. "Your gonna miss me so bad when i'm gone daryl dixon" I heard beth say and then it all went silent.

The roar of flames rose to my eyes and all I saw was bright sparks once I opened my eyes. "Shit.. what did you do" I mumbled as I looked up, Daryl holding me bridal-style outside of the building. It was all in flames. I looked to beth holding up her middle finger at the place, then saw daryl do the same while holding onto me.

He looked down at my face as I looked at the fire in utter shock. He placed me down on my two feet and nodded at me, I did the same and then all three of us left. Left the place to burn and rot.
