After restlessly driving through an immense herd of walkers, getting stuck in the middle of the night, aaron's boyfriend snapping his ankle and a whole day trip we had finally arrived at alexandria. We all strolled up to the gates with our guns raised for safety, an animal squealed and hissed causing Daryl to flinch and fire his crossbow into it. A man with curly brunette hair slid the metal gate doors open, Daryl holding up the animal corpse and speaking,
"We brought dinner,"

A beaming smile curved onto my lips as my eyes fixated on Daryl. Then being brought back from my imagination with Aaron's voice, "Come on in guys," He told us, the group then walking in and being amazed by the state of the community.

Alexandria was like a typical suburban neighbourhood, the houses stood tall with two stories. Crops were growing all around being tended to frequently. Beautiful flower beds were planted outside the houses with blooming tulips, civilians strolling down the streets as if they were living a typically normal life.

"You need to hand over your weapons," Stated the man who was now inches away from me, glaring me down as he grit his teeth. He repeated himself again causing my eyes to finally shift over to him as I was ignoring him before. He gestured his hand out waiting for me to pass him my gun resting in my waistband.

"Yeah.. I don't think so," I spat to the ignorant man, furrowing my brows and looking up at him with annoyance in my eyes.

"Nicholas, let them talk to deanna first.." Aaron suggested, Nicholas then turned his head towards him and nodded then taking a step away from me.

"Who's Deanna?" Abraham questioned with a curious tone, raising an eyebrow as Aaron turned to look at him.

"She will tell you everything about this place.." Aaron answered with a shaky voice, assumingly from all the tension rising between the group and Nicholas. Who didn't seem pleased to meet some new people.

Aaron pointed to a certain house, larger than the others and then speaking towards Rick, "Head over there, Deanna should be expecting you to arrive,"

Rick hesitated, taking a look at Carl who was holding Judith. He nodded at his son who responded with a
half-smile, then storming his way towards the building.

"The rest of you follow me," Aaron ordered with a smile, leading the way towards the armoury.

"They are still your weapons, you just need to check them out whenever you go outside the walls," The sweet woman named Denise told us.

We all exchanged glances before everyone started placing their weapons into the cart, I hesitated and was the last to do so. Alexandria seemed like a wonderful community, the rules seemed fine yet I was in a struggle to follow them.

"So.. let's sort out these houses huh?" Aaron chuckled, he was pleased with our decision to come to Alexandria.

The living arrangements had been organised and my house was beside Daryl's, I lived alone to be expected yet I still felt heartache just imagining myself sleeping alone. The past weeks that I had known the group, everyday I slept with a loving arm around me or a shoulder to lean on.

As soon as I stepped inside, the interior was warm and inviting, it was clean with comfortable furniture with a large dining table. Who knows when I will ever be using that. The kitchen was modern with the fridge already stocked. A large island sat in the middle of the room with white marble countertops.

The world had gone to shit and yet the house I am staying at is nicer and more pleasant than my scrappy old apartment in the past. Back then I would've dreamed to live in a house like this, but now that I do all I feel is ridden with sadness that I have lost most of my past life.
