Hot shot is five years old. He is a very playful and active child. He loves to run, jump, climb and play. He is full of energy. He never stops playing almost. He is a very good little boy too. He lives in Fort Worth Texas with his parents Heatwave and Quickshadow.
Heatwave his father is a firefighter. He is very brave and strong. He is a very kind and loving father and husband too. He loves his wife and he loves his son. He taught Hot shot from a very young age about fire safety. He also taught Hot shot how and when to dial 911. Hot shot was a very smart and well behaved little boy. He understood right away.
Quickshadow is his mother. She is a pediatric cardiologist who works at Cook children's. She loves to help children. She loves to take care of her son. She is a very caring and loving mother and wife. She loves her husband and she loves her son. She never usually worried about Hot shot when he got hurt. She was happy she had a very happy and healthy son.
Hot shot is a very healthy and playful child too. He never has had any problems with his health. He never been badly hurt and he has never been very sick either. He was all around a healthy and wonderful child. However shortly after his fifth birthday things change.
Hot shot was feeling very unwell. He was tired all the time. He was losing his energy. Hot shot was normally full of energy. He almost never stopped playing. But now he wasn't playing like he normally does. He was very tired even though he slept through the night. He just didn't have the energy to run, jump, climb and play like he used too. He just wanted to lay down and rest most of the time. He just didn't feel too good at all.
Hot shot was also feeling rather weak. He seemed to have lost his strength. He was not feeling too good at all.
Hot shot was also coughing and running out of breathe. He was coughing very often. He ran out of breathe really easily. Hot shot felt like breathing was becoming a chore.
Hot shot also lost his appetite. Food seemed to have lost all of it's appeal. Hot shot didn't even seem interested in any of his favorite foods.
Hot shot was also having discomfort in the chest. He found it very uncomfortable. It also felt like there was some sort of fluttering in the chest at times and other times pounding hard.
Heatwave and Quickshadow were worried about Hot shot. They were talking one evening a week later. "I am worried about Hot shot," Quickshadow said.
"I am worried too, he seems very sick," Heatwave said.
"I think something might be going on with Hot shot," Quickshadow said.
"I think so too, maybe we can do something in the morning," Heatwave said.
Hot shot came into the room. "Mummy, daddy I feel terrible," Hot shot said.
Quickshadow took a look she saw Hot shot's skin was very ashy. She also saw his ankles were swollen and heard him cough. She knew this was serious.
"We need to take Hot shot to Cook Children's Hospital ER, right now it can't wait," Quickshadow said.
"Hospital? ER?" Hot shot asked.
"Yes, it will help us know what is wrong with you," Quickshadow said.
"I understand I will pack a bag just in case." Heatwave said.
Quickshadow helped Hot shot get ready. "Can I bring Roxy?" Hot shot asked.
"Of course you can," Quickshadow told him.
Hot shot was holding on to Roxy as they headed to the car. Then they got into the car and headed to Cook Children's Hospital.
Hot shot was very nervous. Hot shot was ready to get better and feel better.
