I slammed my car door shut and stood in front of my door, leaving Bianca inside as I dealt with Faye. I didn't even know why I was doing this other than guilt. It wasn't my problem anymore and it never was, what my father has done has nothing to do with me. I wasn't him and I wasn't going to take guilt for his actions.
But fuck.
One look into her pretty dark blues and suddenly I was responsible. Suddenly I wanted to fix all the problems that dealt with her.
"Why are you even walking?" I asked her calmly over the hood of my car. She had surprisingly stopped walking, standing a couple feet away as the rain soaked us both.
"Doesn't matter. I'm late, Alessio. I'll see you later and at least there you can barbare me with questions but I don't have time for you right now-" she started to walk away, mumbling about flat tires and Claire. The owner of the cafe she worked in. The one I was supposed to be at right now.
Not chasing after Faye and dropping off my father's wife because I just helped her get an abortion.
I rounded the car and caught up to her before she walked even further. I stood in her way and forced her to take steps back, she sighed exasperatedly. Her black hair looked even darker than it already was because of the rain that continuously poured down on it. It forced my eyes to be drawn to pale skin and full pink lips that trembled the tiniest bit when the wind blew suddenly. She was cold and it didn't help that she was still out here arguing with me.
And if that didn't already have a pull in my chest it didn't help when she shifted to the right like she was about to sidestep me when I saw the red across her neck, in the shape of a handprint.
I reached out and grabbed her arm before she could try and make a run for it. In seconds I placed my fingers under her chin and tilted it so I could see the faint bruises.
"What happened?"
The words left my mouth before I could even think about them. Her skin was soft and cold beneath my fingers and I could've sworn her breath hitched at the slight contact.
She swatted me away quickly, taking steps back just as fast. She lost her balance on her fucking boots in the process and I had to catch her.
"Fuck, Faye- calm down," I mumbled irrritadley.
Dammit I didn't have time for this either.
I let her go after I made sure she wouldn't fall again. She touched her neck, the spot that was red and pissing me off the more it stood out against her skin. For a second she blinked in confusion but in seconds the look was gone and replaced with something else dangerous.
"Why do you care about my sex life," she mumbled.
I pushed back my hair that kept falling in my face because of the goddamn rain. Sighing as I tamped down the fire that lit up beneath me at her words, "well if he's fucking choking you the right way there should be no bruising."
