There was a knock on my door. I brushed down my jacket. My fingers caught on the buttons and made me notice the slight shake. I shook them and ignored my nervousness.

I walked over to the door, took a breath and opened it. That breath immediately left me as a pair of hazel eyes stared into mine.

Lynnie smiled at me as I traced her body with my eyes. A navy dress that hugged her waist and ruffles twisted down from her hips. I couldn't drag my eyes away. Everything about it was perfect. She was perfect. Lynnie was going to be the centre of attention tonight.

"Can I come in?" She asked. "I desperately need something to drink."

I just smiled and moved out of the way. She hurried over to the mini fridge, her dress moving and catching the light, making her look like an angel.

"This is ok, right?" Lynnie continued, picking out a Diet Coke. "I'll pay you back."

"No, it's fine," I said softly, "I'm not paying for this room anyway."

She laughed, a beautiful sound that I had missed.

"I'm so thirsty, I spent all day shopping," she smiled to herself. "Who knew Paris had many shops?"

"Wow, I didn't realise," I replied sarcastically, making her smiled once more.

"Would you stop looking at me like that?" Lynnie stared at me, eyes wide, glowing in the setting sun.

"Like what?"

"Like I'm yours to look at."

"I'm sorry, I can't help it."

"Well help it, I takes me feel uncomfortable," she put down her can and picks up her bag again. "Come on we're going to be late."

I followed her out the door, in awe of the way she moved so effortlessly. Everything she did made me regret everything I had done in the past three years.

We got in the car and it took about 10 minutes through the crowded streets of Paris to arrive at the Théâtre du Châtelet. The red carpet was lit up by the blinding flashes of the press and paparazzi. I saw Lynnie's eyes widen as David Beckham appeared.

"Dios mio," her mouth hanging open. "Are we going in on the red carpet?"

"Obviously, I'm kind of a big deal."

She rolled her eyes, but it couldn't conceal her excitement. This was the kind of life she deserved.

"Are we going in?"

"Yes," I sighed.

Lynnie scrunched her eye at me, reading my face. She reached out and squeezed my hand softly. "Smile."

The door opened for me and I stepped out. I could hear shutters behind me like bullets. I looked to the side of me and Lynnie had appeared next to smile. She gave me a smile, her face lighting up with an incandescent glow. My butterflies fluttered away.
