Once Travis had left, Bridget and I settled into the living room, a familiar and comfortable space for our heart-to-hearts.

"So, mom," Bridget began, a knowing look in her eyes, "I can tell you're really into him."

I couldn't help but smile, feeling like a teenager caught in a crush. "Yeah, I guess I am. He's different, Bee. He's kind and funny, and... I just feel good around him."

Bridget nodded, her expression softening. "I like him too. He's cool. But," she added, her tone turning more serious, "I mean it, mom. If he does anything to hurt you, he'll have to answer to me."

Her protective stance made my heart swell with love. "I know, sweetie. And I appreciate that. But let's hope it never comes to that, okay?"

"Yeah," she agreed, leaning into me for a hug. "I just want you to be happy, mom."

"And I am, Bee. With him, and especially with you." We shared a smile, the bond between us as strong as ever.

As we continued our conversation, Bridget's curiosity shifted towards how Travis and I planned to go public with our relationship.

"Well," I started, a playful glint in my eye, "Travis made this adorable video. He was making friendship bracelets on his podcast and casually slipped my name into it. He even joked about giving it to me at my next concert with his number on it."

Bridget's eyes lit up with amusement. "That's so cute and so cheesy. Classic Travis move, I guess."

I nodded, still smiling. "And there's more. I'm planning to go to his football game this weekend. It'll be a fun way to show my support, publicly. You should come with me!"

Bridget pondered for a moment, then her face broke into an excited smile. "Yeah, that sounds great! It'll be cool to see him play."

I then added with a giggle, "Oh, and Tree says hi. She thinks this will be the perfect narrative follow-up to the whole 'don't mess with my mom' thing. Kind of like you checking out my new boyfriend to make sure you approve."

Bridget laughed along, nodding in agreement. "That's perfect. Let's do it, mom. It'll be our little adventure."

As we sat there, still reveling in the afterglow of our evening, I turned to Bridget, seeking her honest opinion. "Do you really approve of Travis?" I asked, a hint of vulnerability in my voice.

Bridget paused, considering her words carefully. "He seems great, mom. But I think it's too early to really tell. You know, the guys you've dated in the past... well, they haven't exactly set the bar high. So, I'm keeping my guard up, just in case."

Her response was thoughtful, tinged with the wisdom of someone who had seen too many goodbyes. I nodded, understanding her caution. "I get it, Bee. And I don't expect you to hide how you feel about him, or anyone else I bring into our lives. Just promise me you'll always be honest with me, okay?"

Bridget met my gaze, a sincere look in her eyes. "I promise, mom. Always honest. Just don't forget, no one messes with us Swifts, right?"

Her words brought a smile to my face, and I pulled her into a hug. "Absolutely. We're in this together, no matter what."
