I woke hours later to voices in the house. I got up and walked down the stairs and saw my mother and father. They were talking in hush voices. They didn't notice that I was there until they looked up and saw me standing there.
My mother said, "Carter what are you doing home?"
"I wasn't feeling too good. Why do you two looks so scared for?" I asked them.
They sighed and my mother looked at me with a knowing look and said, "My dear we just found out from Mr. Hail that he had found your uncle. He said that your uncle has been looking for you and he doesn't know anything about our world. Only your mother did because she married into the family,"
I knew what she was saying. When a human marries a vampire, they learn of our secrecy, and they turn into one of us after they give birth children, however many they wish to have. But that was only for the women. I wasn't too sure how it worked for the men. Then those children don't turn unless they marry a vampire, only if they wish. Along ago female children who were born from a human turned female were forced to marry a full-blooded vampire. Those a child of a vampire can live longer than a human we tend to be noticeable after a while. Sometimes we even crave for blood. Now a days there are tablets for that. I mean in today's world we are free to choose what we want to do, but it is mostly expected to follow tradition and marry a vampire and be turned into a full-fledged vampire.
My father was the coven master and with him being dead, his most trusted friend, which is Jagger's Aunt took over the Coven. I was to marry a vampire of my choosing when I was ready and so far, none of the males have like me or caught my interest. It doesn't matter which coven I marry into just as long as that the vampire I marry loves me for me and not just for my father's powers that I will inherit once I'm turned.
My parents were going to have three children, my parents gave birth to my little brother when they were killed. I didn't really know them because I was five and all my memoires were wiped and Jagger's aunt has been teaching me who my parents were, but mostly my father. I wish I knew of my mother. I've wanted to know more about my human side of the family before I deiced on to settle down and find a vampire to marry. Jagger's Aunt strongly believes that I'll end up marrying her nephew when the time comes but I don't disagree with her or agree with her at the same time because there is a contract in place who I'm to marry when I turn 21 years old.
"So, what's going to happen?" I asked them as I shook my head to clear them of thoughts and images from what Jagger's Aunt as told me.
My father looked at me with a blank look and said, "The Lady would like to speak with you about it tomorrow night at Jagger's 18th birthday party."
I sighed and said, "I'll go only to talk with the Lady, but I will not, I repeat, once I talk with the lady of the night I will leave because I don't want to be in the same room as Jagger."
My mother sighed and said, "Carter you know that your brother and sister are friends with him. Why don't you want to be near him?"
I sighed and said, "I just wish to stay away from him. Is it wrong of me to be scared of him? "
They said nothing more and let me be to think about everything that they just said. Retreating to my room. Yes, I was scared of Jagger. He can be scary, and I've seen how scary he can be, and I didn't like it. I let everything go and just laid down on my bed and just drifted off to sleep. Sleep did not come to me. I couldn't sleep because everything was crashing down on me. I sighed and got up and walked out of my room and down into the kitchen.
The kitchen was like every other kitchen except that we have a frig for the blood we keep under lock and key. I walked over to the frig that held all the yummy food. I opened the door to pull out the tea that I drink every night when I can't sleep. Sighing again I sat down at the table and tried to calm my breathing down.
"Isn't it pass your bedtime Carter?" Asked Jagger right behind me.
I didn't hear him come in, but I didn't dare to mover or look over at him. I got up and walked out of the room and before I was fully out, he grabbed a hold of me and pulled me to his body. I tried to fight and get away from him, but he held me and said, "I heard about my aunt wanting to speak to you princess. I'm wondering what's going on and I do know that you know something?"
I still did not answer him. He doesn't know that I am a princess, but the reason why he called me princess is because it was something his aunt, and parents used to call me. Jagger, at one time called me princess and that was before everything changed.
"Carter what is going on? Why does my aunt want to speak to you? Why are you avoiding me?" Jagger asked me.
"It doesn't matter to you because I am a half breed, and I shouldn't be alive. Maybe once I speak to your aunt I'll be gone and you can be happy young lord," I spat at him as I pulled away from him.
He let me go and I ran back to my room, and I closed and locked my door. He's made my choice clear. It would be better if I were gone because of the fact that everyone thinks I am already dead. I sighed and walked over to my bed and sat down. I glanced at the table by my bed and saw a photo album. There were tons of them. They were all filled with pictures of me, Jagger, Alex, Ava, and her, Maze. We were the best of friends. Jagger and I used to do things together until the night of the party. A night I wanted to forget.
"Carter come on I didn't mean to push all those questions on to you like I did. Will you just talk to me for once?" Asked Jagger.
"Just go away, you made it clear," I yelled at him.
"Carter come on, we've known each other since we were kids. Why are you pushing me away like this? I know your upset with-"
"Just go Jagger. You made it clear all those years ago that I am nothing to you. So quit trying to understand me and read me. Just leave since that's what you do best," I yelled over top of what he was saying.
I felt tears slipping down my face. I tried to will the tears to stop.
"Fine, do whatever you want Carter," said Jagger as he walked away.
I sighed while clearing my face of the spilled tears and place the photo album back. Then I laid back down on my bed and looked over at the picture of me and the coven that my parents ran, that is the same coven that has been taking care of me. I sighed slowly close my eyes to try and sleep. It wasn't any good. I gave up and sat up and tuning on a light I pulled my notebook off from my nightstand and opened it to a new page and started to draw a fallen angel with wings closed over the front of his body. The Angel was holding a baby, and the background of the angel was a midnight sky. The stars were bright with a light cloud that you could see though as well as a full moon. When I was done working on the picture, I set it aside and tuned my light off and slowly drifted off to sleep.
