Chapter 11

Soon we arrived at the Rivers home. Everyone got out and my father knocked on the door. Not A minute later the door was opened by one of the many kids that my newly founded uncle and Aunt have. I couldn't tell which one it was because of the fact that I was behind my parents.

"Can I help you?" Said a girl's voice.

"Yes, your parents are expecting us," said Uncle John.

"Oh, you must be the ones he was talking about. Come on in. I'm Rose," said Rose.

We all walked in, and she showed us to the dining room to where the rest of the family was sitting.

"Ah you guys made it. Please sit. May will be right out with the rest of dinner. I think she feels down because we don't have a cook or maid," said Uncle James.

"It's no problem. Our maid Ella requested to stay with us since she was Carter's nanny," said my mother.

I sat down between my father and Jagger. I looked at all the kids and I couldn't believe they have six kids. I sighed and eared a look from Ava and Alex. They could tell I was getting scared. Jagger took my hand and squeezed it letting me know that all was fine.

"Now let's get the introductions out of the way shall we. The young man sitting next to me is my eldest son John, he's 20 and away at college. Next is my other son Jake who is 19, then my daughter Lucy who is 18, Andrew who is 17. Then you have my twins Rose and Eric at 16. Children this is this your cousin Carter, and her family. Her mother and father, Clara and Thomas. Her aunt and uncle, Eve and John. Carter's brother and sister Alex and Ava, and Eve's nephew Jagger, " Said my uncle.

All the children looked like James, and the girls even looked like him. None of the children look like their mother. I felt sorry for her. But it seemed that they have their mother's attitude. Lucy looked at me and eyed how close Jagger was to me. She was about to say something but May walked in.

She placed the meal on the table and soon everyone was placing food on their plates and everyone started to eat. I was slowly eating when Lucy decided to ask me questions.

"So, Carter how come we never knew that you existed?" Lucy asked.

I sighted and said, "I didn't even know I had an uncle until my uncle Hail looked into some of my mother's side of the family."

"Lucy, I told you why she was never with us," said James.

Ava looked at everyone and knew that this dinner was going downhill and fast. So, Ava did what Ava likes to do and said, "Father when is the new store going to be opened and where is it going to be located at?"

James looked at my father and said, "you own stores?"

"Yes, I do. I own at least ten or more. I Believe the new location is in this town. Why Ava?" asked father.

"Well, I was wondering if I can run this store since Alex runs all the other ones. I believe since my 17th birthday is around the corner I'm old enough to run a store?" said Ava.

Alex started to laugh and same with Jagger and I soon caught on what she was doing. Ever since SHE died, we've always been together. Ava and I have never been apart longer than one class.

"Ava is it because you're going to miss Carter?" Asked my uncle James.

Ava stopped eating and said, "No. It's because since a friend of-"

"Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom?" I asked.

"Rose dear, can you show Carter where the bathroom is please?" Asked May.

Rose got up and showed me to the bathroom. She stopped me before I could enter and she said, "why did you need to use the bathroom?"

"I just do. And thank you," I told her.

I walked in and locked the door and sat down. I tried to breath in and out because I didn't need the attack to happen again. Once I felt better, I returned to the dining room and sat down. It was too quiet, and I looked around and noticed that Jagger and Ava were gone.

Alex looked over at me and said, "Jagger wanted to talk to Ava about what she was about to say that would have brought up painful memories for us."

"I know. Thank you, Alex," I said.

Soon everyone was talking and a few moments later walked in Ava and without Jagger. Ava looked over at me and said, "Sis I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring that up."

I didn't say anything because Lucy said, "Bing that up?"

I sighed and Alex said, "Me, Carter, Jagger, And Ava, we had a friend who was dear to us. At the time Jagger was dating her. Her name was Maze. She was the life out of our group. Jagger fell for her and soon she found out she was pregnant. A few months in her pregnancy Carter and Maze went out shopping one day and they were kidnapped and torched for days. Our cousin Chris and Blake were assigned to the case. Two days later they found them. But it was too late. Maze died protecting Carter. Carter tried to talk her out of protecting her because of the baby. In the end Carter got out of her chains and killed the men who killed Maze. Before Maze died, she told Carter that she was sorry that she had taken Jagger from her. Since then, Carter and Jagger haven't been talking to one another. That was almost three years ago."

"So, this Maze was going to have a child at 15?" asked Jake.

"Yes. Jagger and Maze made a mistake. But we only want our children to be happy. You see in our cutler our children choose when they wish to have children. But Maze was really sick, she wanted a child so badly. Since she died Jagger and Alex, Ava and Carter made a promise not to be too far apart and always go out with one another." said Eve.

May looked up and said, "So Carter you're not-"

"No. I'm not. I have goals I want to reach. Plus, I want to take over my father's business," I told her.

John looked at me and said, "What did your father do?"

"He owned night clubs, stores, studios and many more. I've been learning how to run the studios so that way I don't have to worry too much, but the clubs and stores are another story." I spoke.

"So, what is the deal between you and Jagger?" Asked Lucy.

"Why do you want to know that for?" Asked Ava.

"I would like to know if she has a thing for him or something?" said Lucy.

I sighed and said, "Its compacted. That's all I have the say on this matter."
