When he arrived at the station, Kagami's train hadn't arrived yet. It made him a little anxious. He stood there and waited, not for too long, until the train finally came to a slow stop in front of him. He walked forward slowly as the doors opened and a large crowd departed. It was too dense to make anything out, but he knew that blue crown better than his own reflection.
"Katsuki-kun? You came to get little old me?", Kagami asked when she finally noticed the boy's hulking figure.
Katsuki grunted in response, an annoyed frown plastered on his face. The girl seemed to smile with the way her eyes curved. He couldn't see with that mask on her lower face. She must've put it on in the train, he thought.
"Of course. We wouldn't want your dumb ass getting beat up again.", he said lowly before looping his arm with her's and leading her away from the station. The girl just smiled wryly and said, "You're such a sweetheart, you know that?"
Katsuki gave her a sidelong glance, annoyed by how playful she was after what had happened to her. She was shaking and breathing a bit heavily. She was scared, he could tell with the way she shut her eyes every so often as she tried to calm herself.
He wondered if she was feeling cold. She was only dressed in a plain black shirt, jeans and those old shoes that she loved so much.
They were tattered at this point, Katsuki thought. He wondered just how much she had to run for them to become so... So unrecognisable.
"I don't have an umbrella.", Katsuki said as they stepped out into the rain. Kagami shrugged and quickly responded, "That's quite fine, Katsuki."
She leaned onto his side for warmth and comfort, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. She winced in pain, but refused for him to remove his hand. The warmth was just worth it.
It was thirty-five minutes to ten, and it would take thirty minutes or more to walk all the way back to his house.
They found his mother, Mitsuki, waiting in the lounge upon their arrival, she must've heard when Katsuki left. They took their wet shoes off at the door, slowly making their way into the lounge where the woman sat.
"Now, you listen here, Bakugō Katsuki! I'll be damned if you started sneaking around—", Mrs Bakugō began, only to cut herself short when she saw Kagami, and in such a sorry state.
"What the hell happened here?", she asked, rushing forth. Katsuki grumbled an answer, saying that only Kagami could offer anything that resembled an explanation. He excused himself, heading into the kitchen to prepare something warm for Kagami to eat and drink. He then disappeared up the stairs, probably gone up to his room.
Kagami was left to her own devices. Mrs Bakugō studied her with an intense gaze.
"What happened to you, Kagami-chan?", she finally asked softly, her gaze softening as well. Kagami shifted uneasily where she stood, avoiding the woman's gaze.
Mrs Bakugō walked up to her and gently took Kagami's round face in both her hands. Her gaze was gentle, but she was obviously scrutinising her. Mitsuki looked at every cut, bruise and scratch, head shade slowly.
Kagami swallowed, suddenly nervous about an adult knowing, but she didn't want to lie. It really wouldn't be worth it.
"I... I got into a fight with some guys in the city.", she said. Mrs Bakugō gasped, causing the girl to smile nervously.
"No, no, I'm okay, I promise. I just...", she said as she averted her gaze. "I need a place to stay for the night."
Katsuki entered the room with a towel in hand and handed it to the girl.
