After all of the toasts were made, Lindsey decided to go last for the simple sake of making a small speech in order to then have the stage to perform with his band.
"This first song we're gonna perform is Peacekeeper... Happens to be one of Shelly's favorites that I've written in the last few years. I wanna say Shelly was about sixteen or seventeen when I wrote this... There's a lot of deeper history that I don't need to get into, but the more uplifting melody masks the eerie lyrics," he explained. "This is what you wanted, so this one's for you, baby girl..."
Suddenly, the only sound anybody could hear was Lindsey's incredible guitar playing and it was exceptional.
When the song was over, the audience would then erupt into applause and from there, the band would begin to cover a few songs by other artists and then again, more that Lindsey had written.
When the next song began, Trevor made his way over to his mother with Ireland.
"What's the matter, babies?" Stevie wondered.
"Nothing, but Ireland would like to dance with you," he assured. "I asked her if she wanted to dance but she said, only if she could dance with grandma..."
"Oh, is that right, my love?" she grinned, taking the last sip of her champagne before setting the flute down in order to stand up. "Well, come on, baby, let's go..." she took her little hand.
Ireland got excited.
"I'm gonna take your things to our table, mom..." Trevor assured.
"Okay, keep an eye on it, please," she asked before leading her granddaughter to the dance floor.
From the stage, while he was singing, Lindsey could clearly see when Stevie entered the dance floor with her granddaughter and put her on her hip in order to sway her to the music.
It was simply the sweetest thing to see.
Ireland was waving at Lindsey from the distance but it was very hard to tear his hands from his guitar long enough to wave back, so when the song was over, he made sure to acknowledge her.
"Can you clap for Lindsey and his band? They're doing such a good job," she told the girl.
When everybody clapped, she did so as well.
After about 11 more songs, Lindsey would hand the stage back to the D.J. and he would dismiss his band for the rest of the evening.
The music the disc jockey played was a really solid mix of classic 70s hits, the bride and groom's favorite songs and then just regular hits that were normally played at a wedding.
As soon as Lindsey walked off the small platform that was the stage for the evening, he was bombarded by quite a few people before he could get to Stevie and Ireland.
Many people, like at any of his gigs, they wanted more details in case they wanted to hire the band, they wanted pictures with him and it forced him to be a bit more sociable than he normally liked.
Stevie took that as an opportunity to grab her things from her kids and she made sure all her kids were fed.
They didn't dance for all 13 songs, but they danced for a lot of them and the girl was not letting up once she started dancing and showing of her twirls and pliés.
Lindsey eventually made his way over to the table of people, seeing Stevie getting Ireland settled with her parents and a plate of food, giving her bites of pasta salad.
"Oh, my God, Lindsey---you played so good!" Annelle complimented him easily.
"Yeah, really great set," Trevor assured.
