It was the first of March and the days were getting longer. Snow was starting to melt away and the first birds were chirping. Spring was around the corner and it couldn't come fast enough.
Kiara knocked on Remus's door, wondering why he asked her to come by. She was hoping it was about her father, and that she was going to see him that night.
"Come in," Remus permitted and Kiara stepped inside.
"Hey, everything alright?" she asked him as she saw Remus shuffle through his things.
"No, actually," he started.
"Is it Dad?" she asked, immediately.
Remus shook his head, "No. A good friend sent word that your mother was admitted to St. Mungos. They're not allowing her to see any visitors and keeping her in isolation. I have to go there and straighten things out. I thought she was better...but maybe she had an episode...I don't know."
Kiara swallowed hard, remembering Cho's threats. Remus looked at Kiara, waiting for a reaction. She nodded, "She is better. She only goes there for her monthly check-ins, that she is required to do for work."
"Why would they randomly admit her then?" Remus asked as he closed his briefcase, "Unless that stupid father of yours ignored me and went to see her again."
"It's not Dad," Kiara immediately defended her father.
Remus looked at her, "How do you know for sure?"
"It's so stupid Remus!" Kiara fought back her tears, "One of Cedric's exes is psycho and told me that if I didn't break up with him then she'll have her cousin admit Mum and I told her he'd lose his license if he did something that stupid..."
"Hey, hey," Remus reached out to hold her, "it's going to be okay. I'll handle this."
"I can't believe she actually did this," Kiara cried and he pulled her in for a hug.
"I can't either...." Remus mumbled, stroking my hair before pulling away, "I don't want you to worry about this, okay? I'll get your mother out and then come back and deal with this girl."
Kiara wiped her tears and nodded, "Okay. Thank you. Send an owl once everything is sorted, please."
"Of course, but you don't do anything stupid while I'm gone, you hear me?" Remus pointed at her.
Kiara stared back at him, not wanting to make that promise.
"You'll lose your Prefect badge," he warned her but that was the last thing she was worried about at the mument.
Kiara fled Remus's office as fast as she could. All she saw was red as she made her way down the corridors. She knew she couldn't go after Cho. She wasn't going to be that girl. She wasn't going to let Cho win by reacting to this. So the best option was to go back to the dormitories and calm down.
She had to think through her next steps. Remus said he was going to take care of it and Kiara trusted he would. There was nothing to worry about except how Cho actually pulled it all.
Was it Cho? Or did Kiara's mum have an episode? She needed all the facts before she did anything. Therefore, by the time Kiara reached her room, she decided she was going to wait for Remus's owl. She would not be able to focus on her assignments, so Kiara decided to sleep for the rest of the afternoon.
