Chapter 3 Jack finds out the truth about Jackson

Before Jack can even knock on his son's door Jackson opens the door and steps out of the room closing the door behind him. Jackson sees Jack and assumes that he was up there to let him know that it was time to eat. He then heads downstairs with Jack behind him to the dinning room for dinner. Once at the dinner table Jack brings up the idea of having Jackson becoming a vampire hunter joining in on the family business which causes Jackson to drop his fork he looks from his mom and Jack wondering what to say. Veronica speaks up and says "Jack my love maybe let Jackson think about before making him answer." Jack agrees with her and tells Jackson that he has until the of the month to decide which is 3 weeks away. Jackson nods and excuses himself from the table claiming that he already ate at Mark's house and that he was not really that hungry. Jack looksa at his son with concern and notices that he is paler then usual before he can say anything else Veronica sends Jackson to his room and tells Jack "he came home saying he wasn't feeling good but I think maybe he is just tired from practice." Jack agrees with her thinking that must be the case after all he does not see how Jackson could be a vampire and not show any vampire abilities after all this time. Once his parents are asleep Jackson jumps out of his window and lands feet first without making any noise then takes off towards the woods knowing that as long as he makes it back for sunrise and makes it look like he slept in his bed his secret will be safe and Jack will still be in the dark about the truth. As the sunrise approaches he takes off towards home still not what to do about Jack wanting him to be a vampire hunter. He knows that if he says no Jack will press the issue but if he says yes he would be hunting his own kind. That morning after Jack left for work he goes over to Mark's house to get his advice on what to do in this situation. After hearing about what happened at dinner the night before and seeing that his best friend is getting paler everyday Mark begs him to leave for his own safety not wanting anything to happen to his best friend. Jackson decides that before the end of the month comes he needs to leave town and go to a school for vampires but before he leaves he needs to make sure his mom and Mark are safe from vampire hunters. Upon arriving at school Jackson decides that it is time to put his plan in action so he heads to the nurses office pretending to be sick the nurse sees how pale he is and assumes he has the flu so she calls Veronica to have her come pick him of from school. After picking him up from school he informs her of his plan but just doesn't tell her what school he is going to and ask her to take him home so he can pack his things and leave before Jack gets home from work. Veronica hugs her son and says that she is proud of him and that he is becoming a responsible young man. As they get home they notice that Jack is home already so she quickly sends Jackson to his room claiming that he has the flu and needs to rest. Jack doesn't not believe this as Jackson is even paler then what he was the night before. Jackson quickly heads up to his room and messages his friend John telling him about his abilities and begs him to keep his mom and Mark safe while he is gone promising to come as soon as he can. John agrees to keep them safe and tells Jackson to stay safe and that he will see him again someday. Jackson thanks him and does not tell him where he is going before deleting the messages and starts packing up most of his belongings including the blood he has hidden in his closet. He looks at his hamster and says "I can not take you with me I have a long journey head of me I am running away." At this point Jack is walking past his son's room and wonders who he is talking to so he opens the door to see who is in the room with his son. As he opens the door he realizes that Jackson is alone in his room and is talking to his hamster he also notices all the empty blood bags on the bedroom floor. It hits him that his son is a vampire after all and rushes out of the room to go grab the stake he has in his room. Jackson realizing that his secret has been discovered quickly writes a note for his mom and hides it in the hidden compartment in his closet that only his mom knows about. After leaving the note he jumps out the window and takes off towards the wood that would take him out of town away from all vampire hunters and to a vampire sanctuary that his mom once told him about.
