I posted the wrong chapter earlier... omfg (this is the correct chapter 7)

The next afternoon, Ezra woke up on a bed in an almost empty room. The only other furniture was an armchair in the corner. The room itself had wood flooring that looked to be severely aged. After Ezra looked around one side of the room, she tried to sit up but was pushed back down by a throbbing pain in her head.

"I would be careful, you took quite a few hits." Ezra rolled over and found Silco sitting in the armchair, he had his fingers on the bridge of his nose. Ezra didn't say anything, she just stared. Silco quickly noticed her. "How are you feeling?" Silco stood up and walked over by the bed. Ezra laid on her back and closed her eyes, "Words cannot describe how much pain I'm in. How I'm not dead? We may never know." Ezra smiled at her answer to her question. Silco chuckled, "You remind me so much of Eliza." Ezra slowly sat and looked at Silco. "My mom used to talk about you all the time. She really wanted to be here to introduce me." Ezra looked down at the blanket on the bed and she played with it in her hands. "I wish she was here too. Maybe things would've been different with Vander and me." Silco sighed as he ran his hand across the bed. "What do you mean?" Ezra looked up at him with her brows furrowed. "After your mom left is when things went," Silco paused as he looked for the right word. "To shit?" Ezra said bluntly. Silco was caught off guard by this. "You have the mouth of your mother too." He looked at her and she gave him a guilty smile. "I was going to say, poorly, but 'to shit' works too." Silco chuckled.

"The three of us had been inseparable for years. The only time we weren't together was when one of us had some other side work we were doing at the time; but after Eliza left, me and Vander grew bitter towards each other. Something changed." Silco explained. He wasn't very detailed, but Ezra assumed that this was because the wounds they caused each other were still fresh. "About five years after your mother left was the river incident. After that I disappeared for almost a decade. Vander and I didn't speak at all during that time." Silco looked ashamed when he said 'the river incident'. Ezra didn't know what he meant by that, "What happened at the river?" Silco sighed as it replayed through his head.

Silco felt the water fill him. There was no part of his body unaffected by the surrounding river water. The air in his lungs was replaced by water, the taste in his mouth had gone rotten, and the stinging sensation from the toxins filling his wounded eye spread like wildfire. Silco attempted to defend himself, but found himself unable to do so without hurting Vander. Silco swung his limbs around loosely to break free, but it found no help. Silco felt himself slipping away into the toxins of the river. That was not the day Silco died, however a part of Silco did.

Ezra looked at Silco with disbelief, "Holy shit!" she said loudly enough to make her head spin. Silco looked at her, Vander wasn't wrong when he said I changed. However, I've done what I need to survive." Siclo sighed. "Holy fucking hell!" Ezra shouted as everything from last night came flooding back to her. "What?" Silco looked confused. "Last night! It didn't click in my head until you said Vander's name." Ezra shouted again. "Ezra. Take a deep breath." Silco took a deep breath, "Calm down." Ezra did so, she took a deep breath in and slowly let it out. "Are my kids okay? Vi, Powder, Milo, Claggor?" Ezra tried to stay as calm as possible.. "Powder was the only one I found, I'm sorry Ezra." Silco watched as Ezra's grief came over her. "Where- where is Powder?" Ezra stuttered through her tears. "She's in another room. When I left she was staring off. She doesn't have any injuries." Silco remained calm as to not work Ezra up anymore. "Okay." Ezra wiped her tears, "I need to see her." Ezra was fighting back tears. Silco nodded. "Collect yourself, I'll go get her." Silco stood up and left.

Ezra laid back down as all her emotions uncontrollably spilled out. She wanted Vander to change what he did, she wanted to see all her children again, she wanted her mom to come back; but none of that was going to happen. She knew it was too late and that made her feel defenseless. This feeling reminded her of her first day in Stillwater, which only made this worse.
