Now this chapter is in the right spot.. sorry about earlier

5 years later

Ezra and Powder stayed with Silco, they never left or planned on it. That was the only thing that hadn't changed. For starters, Powder now went by Jinx. She grew her hair long and gained a touch of 'the crazies', but Ezra supported her though it all. Although Ezra thought her new name wasn't the best idea, but Jinx found more confidence in it, so Ezra embraced it without judgment. She even came up with a new nickname and would just call her 'J' sometimes, Ezra liked nicknames.

Silco had become a 'fatherly' figure to Jinx, he 'trained' her in the ways of the Undercity and how to survive. Silco had also taken over a majority of the city as shimmer filled the Lanes and he took over the Undercity hotspot, the Last Drop. Things were booming for Silco in his plan to separate from the Topside. Silco was right, he would grow very fond of Ezra outside of her mother.

Ezra had finally felt where she belonged. Her fear of returning to Stillwater had subsided for the most part, and she lived with little hold back. Ezra worked through what she could of her trauma, she still struggled with major PTSD episodes that would make her borderline insane or leave her unable to function, but Silco did his best to help her. Ezra had also become even more protective of Jinx, which no one thought was possible because one time she almost killed a man with her bare hands just to protect Jinx. Ezra still remained unafraid of murdering someone, even though that's what sent her to Stillwater in the first place. The three, plus Sevika on occasion, had become their own little family. A family that ran the lanes.

Ezra was sitting at the desk in the corner of her room. Ezra was the manager for the Last Drop. However, she helped Silco here and there with separate jobs and on occasion would help kids in the Lanes who were just released from Stillwater. Tonight, she was looking over some numbers from the Last Drops sales. That day had been quiet for her, she mostly stayed in her office and ran through paperwork. She also watched over a delivery and made sure all the right products had been accounted for.

By this point, it was about 11pm. Ezra was resting her forehead in her hand, her head was pounding. This was normal, after a long day Ezra would usually have a headache. Some days she'd wake up with them, and sometimes they'd be so bad it'd leave her bedridden for days. But Ezra would try to ignore the throbbing pain and work.

Her headache distracted her. It frustrated her. "Fuck!" She threw the papers on the desk and pushed her chair back. "Fuck." She mumbled under her breath. "Ezra?" Jinx was standing in the doorway. "What's going on, J?" Ezra sounded exhausted as she spoke through her breath. Ezra looked up, Jinx looked as if she was about to cry. Ezra stood up and went over to her, "J, what's happening?" Ezra cupped Jinx's face and wiped her tears. "I'm sorry. It- it was a mistake." Jinx jumped forward into Ezra's arms. "Oh, sweetheart." Ezra wrapped her arms around Jinx and rested her head on top of Jinx's. Ezra stroked Jinx's head to calm her. "J, it's okay." Ezra whispered. Jinx mumbled through her tears, but Ezra couldn't hear what she said. "Shh, take a deep breath then we'll talk. It's okay." Ezra continued to stroke Jinx's head.

It was moments like these where Ezra was reminded of Powder.

Jinx collected herself. Ezra was taking deep breaths so Jinx could slow her breathing. This wasn't the first time something like this happened, so Ezra already knew what to do. "I'm sorry." Jinx let go of Ezra and looked at her, "It was a mistake." Ezra cupped Jinx's face, "I know." Ezra gave Jinx a sympathetic smile. "No one blames you, J. It's not your fault." Whenever Jinx would say 'it was a mistake' she usually was referencing the explosion that killed Milo and Claggor. Jinx was a child at the time, she still was, but the guilt haunted her in ways even Ezra didn't understand. "But-" Jinx tried to speak but tears overwhelmed her again, "I'm sorry." She hugged Ezra again. "Please don't leave me." she whispered into Ezra's chest. Ezra wrapped her arms around Jinx again, this time rubbing her back like Eliza used to do for Ezra. "I'm never going to leave you. Jinx, no matter what happens you will always be my reason to come back. I will die before I ever leave you." Ezra held her close, not wanting Jinx to leave her. "You promise?" Jinx mumbled. "I promise." Ezra let go of Jinx and cupped her face with both hands, "I promise on my life." Jinx nodded.

"Do you feel better?" Ezra felt her headache pounding harder than before. Jinx nodded. "Let's get you to bed, it's late." Ezra and Jinx left the room and walked back to Jinx's room. Her room was a large propeller in an open room. Ezra thought it might be dangerous, but Jinx was careful and she could use the space to safely set off bombs, so it worked. "If you need me at all, I'll be in my room or maybe in Silco's office, okay?" Ezra looked at Jinx who could barely keep her eyes open. "Mhm." Jinx hugged Ezra, "Good night." Ezra smiled as she hugged Jinx, "Good night my love." Ezra kissed Jinx's forehead and Jinx went into her room. Ezra smiled to herself before the pain came rushing back. "Oh my fuck." she mumbled under her breath as she made her way to the stairs.

"Going somewhere?" Silco was sitting in his desk chair and looking out the door. In order to go downstairs Ezra had to walk past his office. Ezra stopped in the doorway, "I'm getting something to drink, my head is spinning." Silco stood up, "Let me get you something, sit down." Although Ezra was leaning on the doorway so she wouldn't fall over, she declined, "Seriously, I'm fine." Silco looked confused. "Your head spinning is not fine. Ezra," he gave her a look telling her to cut the bullshit. "Fine, dad!" Ezra mocked Silco and his overprotective nature. She sat down in one of the chairs in front of Silco's desk. Silco looked offended, "I'm not old enough to be your dad." Ezra paused, "My mom is the same age as you so actually, you are." Ezra chuckled, "But it's clearly a joke because there's no way you're my dad. My mom didn't know who my dad was. If you were my dad that would mean-" Ezra stopped. She knew what she was implying, "but that never happened." Ezra took a deep breath. "Well with that, I might be your dad." Silco said right before he walked out of his office. "Wait-" Ezra had to think for a second, "WHAT?! Ew, ew, ew, ew. NO!" Ezra made fake gagging noises. Ezra placed her face in her hands and groaned. A few minutes later Silco came upstairs and handed Ezra a glass of water. "That was traumatizing. Don't joke about that ever again." Ezra accepted the glass of water and glared at Silco. Silco sat down in the chair next to Eliza. "Who said I was joking?" he smiled. Ezra slowly turned her head to Silco, "I-" Ezra couldn't speak. Her face went pale. Silco finally gave into his laughter, "Only you can make jokes?" he smiled. Ezra looked disgusted, "That wasn't funny, it was traumatizing. It made my headache worse." Ezra made more fake gagging noises. "There's something wrong with you." Ezra said as Silco kept laughing. Ezra, after taking a sip of water, couldn't contain her own laughter anymore. "So let me make sure I have this right, leader of Zuan by day, comedian by night?" Ezra said between breaths as she tried to contain her laughter. "Mhm. You're mom would've found that funny y'know." Silco said. Ezra rolled her eyes, "Well in the five years I've known you, you've never really been a 'jokester'. You're always very serious." Silco exhaled as his laughter subsided, "You learn something new everyday. I used to be quite the jokester when your mom was around." Silco smiled. Ezra nodded. The room fell silent for a few moments.

"Are you feeling better?" Silco looked at Ezra who had almost finished her glass of water. "Not really. I'm sure I'll feel better after some sleep." Ezra placed the glass down on the desk. "Why don't you go to bed, I'll bring your glass down when I'm done working." Silco offered with a kind tone. "Thanks." Ezra slowly stood up. "I'll see you in the morning, good night." Ezra lightly forced a smile. "Good night Ezra." Silco said calmly.

Ezra went back to her room and fell on her bed. She tossed and turned a little from the pain, but she eventually fell asleep. Ezra was a deep sleeper so once she was out it took a lot to wake her up. But that didn't change the fact that she woke up the next morning from yelling in Silco's office.
