"I love you, Ez." Viktor forced a smile "I love you too, Vik." Ezra kissed Viktor's cheek. She knew it was time for him to go, but she wasn't ready. She squeezed his hand as tears streamed down her face. "Thank you Ez. You have made my life worth fighting for all these years." Viktor could barely speak. "Thank you for loving me regardless of what I am." Ezra was referencing the fact that she was physically scarred and had several mental disorders. She was also mentioning the fact that she was in fact a murderer, but that never bothered Viktor. He knew why she did it, and never judged her for it. Viktor squeezed her hand back. This made Ezra cry more. Viktor took his last breath and Ezra broke down. She laid her head on his chest, no longer hearing his heartbeat. She absorbed the last of his warmth, she wanted to hold on to him, she hoped that maybe she would get more time. She knew she wouldn't, but she couldn't bring herself to leave.
"Ezra," Ekko stood in the doorway. Ezra looked up, her eyes bloodshot from crying. Ekko opened his arms and Ezra ran to him. "I'm sorry." Ezra mumbled. "Why?" Vi was standing behind Ekko, she was leaning on the wall. "I can't hold it together." Ezra wiped her cheek. "You just lost him, it's okay." Vi joined Ezra and Ekko's hug. Jinx jumped in too, she was quiet when it came to grief. "Besides you kids, he was my everything. I don't want to let go." Ezra cried. Ekko rubbed Ezra's back. "You'll see him again, one day."
12 years later
Ezra spent the last two years alive for her kids. They weren't ready for her to leave, so she didn't. She gave everything to her kids, even her last breath. Ezra had usually been bedridden, but Ekko took her out to the balcony. Ezra loved the fresh air, she always felt closer to the people she'd lost when the wind was in her face. "Ekko," Ezra held his hand, "I'm sorry." Ekko knew what she meant, his eyes filled with tears. "Don't be. We'll be alright." Ekko hugged Ezra. Ezra smiled and took a deep breath. She looked at Ekko and nodded. He walked Ezra back to her bed and she laid down. "Thank you, mom." Ekko smiled. He never called Ezra mom, but this felt fitting. Ezra smiled, she loved the feeling being called mom sent through her. "I love you, I love all three of you. Nothing will change that." Ezra smiled, she didn't have the energy too, but she tried. "We love you too," Ekko squeezed Ezra's hand, "Let me get the girls, I'll be right back." Ekko left the room.
Ezra stared at the ceiling and closed her eyes. She felt herself slowly slip away. She felt the coldness of death greet her, then leave as she found herself in the arms of Viktor. Ezra cried as she felt her lover in her arms again. "We'll catch up later, it seems many people have been waiting for you my dear." Viktor let go of Ezra and she was soon pulled into a hug with Silco and Vander. "She's here." Vander whispered in Ezra's ear as they both let go of her. Ezra turned around to find a woman who looked just like her standing behind her.
"Mom!" Ezra ran to her mother and hugged her. She didn't let go for what felt like eternity. "Mom, I'm so sorry and I missed you so much. And I love you!" Ezra was overwhelmed with emotion. Eliza whispered in Ezra's ear four simple words, "I love you, Ez."
