TW: torture, topics of death, murder, blood/cutting

"Good morning, darling." Ezra slowly lifted her head to find Hale sitting in that same chair. Ezra could barely hold up her head, the room was spinning to her. "Rob did a good job. He had you out cold for a day. But the good news is, you survived the first day!" Hale used jazz hands and a phony smile. Ezra rolled her eyes, but that only made her dizzy. "I figured you and I would have a little chat. Don't worry, I'll let you speak soon enough." Ezra wanted to try to fight free again, but she didn't have the energy.

"Hades, he was my younger brother. Five years younger to be exact. He was my only brother. It was my job to protect him, at all costs. He was supposed to turn forty this year, but ten awful years ago you killed him. Why? Because your mother finally paid her debt." Hale stood up, he had a sharp knife in his hand. He was up to Ezra and lifted her head by grabbing her jaw. He ran the unsharp side of his knife aping her cheek. Then he quickly moved the knife and cut the fabric around Ezra's mouth. Ezra coughed as air quickly filled her lungs and the taste of fabric left her tongue. "Her debt was not equal to her life!" Ezra shouted. Hale gasped, "Ah, I missed your hard voice, darling." He smiled. Ezra couldn't tell if it was phony or not.

"You killed your brother because he killed my mom. He deserved it! Clearly I only completed half of the job." Ezra scoffed at Hale. He stepped closer to her and grabbed Ezra’s jaw again. "I'd watch what you say, Ez." He used a condescending tone which drove Ezra mad. "Stop calling me Ez." She didn't shout, but she was stern. Hale let go of Ezra's jaw, "But why? I want you to remember your mother for your last day or two alive." He chuckled. To Hale this was all a game. "Now darling, let's go over your life, shall we?"

Hake stood behind Ezra. "Let's start big, you killed an innocent man." Before Ezra could protest, Hale ran the sharp edge of his knife along the inside of Ezra's forearm. causing her to wince from the shock it sent through her body. "You went to Stillwater." Hale sliced her again, right next to his first cut. "In Stillwater you were beaten," another cut, "manipulated," another, "raped; several time might I add," another cut, this time deeper.

Hale continued to list what happened or things Ezra caused. Not only did his words hurt, but the blade literally made his words 'cut deep'. Ezra held back tears as he continued. Hale listed; Vanders death, Vi's imprisonment, Jinx's loss of control, Milo and Claggor's death, and so on. Hake didn't let Ezra forget a single thing.

After Ezra’s arms were covered in over ten cuts each, Hale walked around in front for Ezra. "And most importantly," Ezra's blood dripped off the knife and onto her thighs, "being born a bastard, to a whore who deserved to die a painful death." Hale took the knife and ran it across the side of Ezra's lips, leaving a cut, a short cut that dripped blood down her neck. "Fuck you!" Ezra shouted, spitting blood all over the place. It hurt her to shout. Hale smiled. "You're defenseless and weak, Ezra Graves. That is how you will die."

Ezra felt herself slowly become lightheaded from all the blood loss. She tried to keep her head up as Hale belittled her. Ezra in that moment admitted defeat. She didn't have the energy to yell or fight with Hake or any of his men. She decided that whatever happens, will happen. So, she let herself go. She closed her eyes in hopes that death would great her, and return her to Eliza.

Ezra woke up with a sharp slap to the face. “Who said you could fall asleep, darling?” Hale grabbed her chin. Ezra would barely keep her eyes open. Hale scoffed and let go of Ezra causing her head to drop. “And you were being such a good girl too, but no, just like your mother you had to ruin it.” Hale got on his knees so he was eye level with Ezra. “You had to destroy it just like Eliza destroyed herself.” Ezra didn’t speak. She knew there was nothing she could say to get herself out of whatever was about to happen. “Oh, I like a quiet girl.” Hale smiled. Ezra was disgusted. She felt disgusted and Hale’s names; darling and good girl, it only made this all so much worse. “I’ll be nice, just for once. What can I do for you, before I kill you tomorrow?” Ezra looked up through her eyebrows. She could speak if she wanted to, but how does one answer that question? She can’t for her life, or to see her family once again. “Promise me something,” Ezra was quiet, she could barely speak. “And what would that be?” Hale’s smile was fake, she could tell. “Don’t touch my kids. This ends with me.” Ezra spoke through heavy breaths. Hale clicked his tongue as he thought. “Ooh, I can’t make that promise.” He turned his lip so he looked sad then broke out into laughter. “Why?” Ezra shouted. “Because if they're anything like you, your death will lead to them becoming murderers. Like mother like daughter, my darling.”

Before Ezra could protest Hale pulled a piece of cloth out of his pocket and tied it around Ezra’s mouth. She kept moving her head in order to avoid being choked by the cloth, but Hale just tied it even tighter than needed once he got it on her. “Oops, look like you’ve missed your opportunity for a final wish,” Hale leaned into Ezra’s face, “What a pity?” He had a smug smile on his face. Ezra was left more defenseless than before, she felt humiliated.

“Now that you’re quiet, let me tell you what’s going to happen,” Hale started pacing in front of Ezra. This looked like the classic scene where the villain explains their evil plan. “Tomorrow, I’m going to kill you and dispose of you in the river. There the toxins will slowly destroy your body and all evidence that this even happened. After that, I’ll swing by the Last Drop for a celebratory drink. I’m sure Silco will have on the house drinks for me after I tell him what I’ve done to you. Then I’ll go find your little blue-haired, psycho of a daughter.” Hale paused after this. He noticed the fear that grew in Ezra’s eyes and saw her squirm as if she could free herself. He smiled and walked over to Ezra. He placed his hand below Ezra’s chin and lifted her head so they were making eye contact. “Then I’m going to show your daughter exactly what happens when you try to avenge your mother. I’ll do the same things that I’ve done to you, to her and so much more.” Hale smiled as Ezra’s eyes filled with tears. Ezra ripped her head away from the grip of Hales as she tried to scream. “The best part is, you’ll be too dead to do anything about it.” Hale said sternly. Ezra kept moving in an attempt to break free. She was too caught up in rage and panic to think there was nothing she could do. Hale laughed maniacally, he loved seeing Ezra suffer. “Maybe then your family will learn what happens to street rat women like you when you mess with powerful men like me.”

Hale pulled the same knife from earlier out of his pocket, Ezra’s dried blood was still on it. He walked up to Ezra, he looked down on her. “Maybe then, you’ll learn.” He stabbed the blade into Ezra’s left shoulder. She winced in pain as Hale slowly twisted the blade. Tears filled her eyes as shocks of pain ran through her. Hale slowly pulled the knife out as he twisted it. Blood gushed down Ezra’s body. So much blood that she passed out within seconds. As darkness came over her, she thought that the last person she would ever see or hear is Hale; and that killed her.
