Late call - same night as chapter  (Chan and Samuel study date)

_____

Wonwoo's phone rang, breaking the silence of the late-night hours. Mingyu's name flashed on the screen, stirring a wave of conflicted emotions within Wonwoo. Glancing at his sleeping boyfriend, beside him, Wonwoo hesitated, contemplating whether to answer the call.

Concern for Mingyu's state of mind overrode Wonwoo's hesitation. Careful not to wake Hansol, he quietly moved to a different room, answering the call with a sense of caution.

"Mingyu?" Wonwoo said softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

"I miss you," Mingyu's voice came through, tinged with a mix of longing and vulnerability.

Wonwoo paused, feeling the weight of Mingyu's words but also being mindful of the situation. "Mingyu, it's late. You're not thinking clearly right now."

"I messed up, Wonwoo," Mingyu slurred slightly, the effects of alcohol evident in his speech. "I miss what we had. I want us back."

Wonwoo's heart sank, the memories of their past relationship stirring within him. However, his commitment to Hansol and the understanding that their past relationship wasn't a healthy one made him resolute.

"Mingyu, snap out of it," Wonwoo said gently, "you know we can't go back to how things were. I'm with someone else now and I'm sure it'll be easy to get someone new. with your looks."

"Fuck that shit, I've always only wanted you," Mingyu pleaded, his voice filled with desperation and longing.

Wonwoo glanced back at the closed bedroom door, Hansol sleeping peacefully on the other side. "Mingyu, I can't do this right now. You need to take care of yourself. We'll talk when you're sober."

"Please... just please"

"You're really starting to piss me off, after what you caused with Minghao you're drowning yourself In alcohol? then you fucking call me in the middle of the night saying you miss me? who the fuck do you think you are?"

The words sliced through the air, dripping with bitterness and resentment. Wonwoo's voice crackled with anger as he confronted Mingyu, his frustration bubbling to the surface. Mingyu stood in silence, his gaze averted, as Wonwoo's accusations hit him like a barrage of sharp arrows. The weight of his actions hung heavy in the air, and the truth in Wonwoo's words pierced through his inebriated haze.

"I know," Mingyu muttered, his voice strained with remorse. "I messed up, Wonwoo. I'm sorry."Wonwoo's jaw clenched, his frustration palpable. "Sorry doesn't cut it, Mingyu. You think a call in the middle of the night erases the mess you left behind? You've got a lot of nerve." Mingyu's shoulders slumped, guilt and regret consuming him.

"I miss you, Wonwoo. I miss us."

Wonwoo scoffed his expression a mix of anger and hurt. "Don't you dare bring 'us' into this. Don't you fucking dare after all the shit you keep pulling "

The words spat out by Wonwoo were laden with a searing mix of anger and pain, his emotions swirling like a turbulent storm in the midst of their confrontation.

Mingyu flinched at Wonwoo's venomous response, the weight of his own actions bearing down on him. He remained silent, unable to find the words to counter Wonwoo's justified resentment."You think a few words will undo all the hurt you've caused?" Wonwoo's voice cracked with emotion, his eyes burning with a mixture of betrayal and lingering affection. "You destroyed 'us,' Mingyu. You tore it apart with your recklessness."

Mingyu's shoulders sagged under the weight of Wonwoo's accusations, the reality of his mistakes hitting him hard. "I know I messed up. I'm sorry, Wonwoo."Wonwoo's gaze hardened, his walls fortified against Mingyu's remorse.

"Stop fucking apologizing, why do you keep apologizing? do you really think anything changes sorry?"

A heavy silence enveloped them, suffocating with the weight of their shattered past. The unspoken longing for what once was lingered in the air, overshadowed by the pain of betrayal and broken trust.

"Don't say you miss 'us' when you're the one who destroyed it," Wonwoo's voice wavered with a mix of anguish and frustration.

"You need to figure yourself out, Mingyu," Wonwoo said, his voice softer but firm. "But don't drag me into your mess." With that Wonwoo ended the call. The silence that followed was deafening. His hands trembled, and his chest tightened with a turbulent mix of emotions, his whole body shaking with anger.

The phone slipped from his grasp as he sank to the floor, overwhelmed by his own emotions.

With a deep breath, Mingyu wiped away the tears that had started to form in his eyes. The line had gone dead, but the echoes of Mingyu's broken voice echoed on in his head.
