book 1 chapter 9: secret revealed

As the police are finishing up with their search, a non bender handed the avatar a note to meet up. At midnight, the avatar and the other three had met up with the non bender worker where they found out about Hiroshi's secret factory under the estate. Josh had a search warrant in hand to search the estate. En-route to the estate, Lin had given Josh the rank of commissioner.

Lin: remember, being commissioner has it's benefits.

Josh: like what?

Lin: like over turning orders from the council.

Josh: I like the sound of that.

The airship arrives at the estate and the police burst into the estate when Asumi got upset as Bolin raised his arms in surrender.

Asumi: (angrily) What are you doing here? I thought that you already searched everywhere.

Josh: Don’t bother in getting our way. (Hand Asumi a scroll) We have a search warrant.

Mako: it's a qualified scroll. I'd say that we better get out of the way.

Asumi hesitates to allow the police do what they came to do. They were informed that Hiroshi is usually in his workshop. During their search, they found an empty workshop.

Lin: there's a secret tunnel underneath the workshop, all right.

Asumi: (disbelief) what? There's no secret workshop.

Josh metal bends a secret entrance revealing a staircase and elevator. Asumi was confused with the discovery.

Ophelia: (places her hand on Asumi's shoulder) didn't expect to see that, did you?

Asumi: I don't understand.

Ophelia: I'm sure there's a misunderstanding.

Lin orders her officers into the tunnel and ordered one of her men to keep an eye on Mako, Bolin and Asumi.

Josh: I would like you to stay with them, Ophelia. If that's fine with you.

Ophelia: don't worry. I'll be safe with them.

Lin: (offside) Josh! You coming?

Josh: I'll be there.

Ophelia wishes him luck as he went down into the tunnel. He was feeling a little uncertain about how what will happen when they find the new "weapons". Once they arrived at the secret factory, Tenzin, the Beifongs, Korra and the metal benders found the new weapons as mecha suits.

Josh: These are the new weapons? Mecha suits?

Tenzin: they're called mecha tanks. Hiroshi was lying all right. But where is he?

Suddenly, a wall of metal shoots up from behind the group, sealing off the entrance. Upstairs, Ophelia went into a defensive stance.

Bolin: what was that?

Mako: we better find out what's going on.

The officer, Song was against that until Mako sneeze bend. With the group downstairs, Josh walked towards the metal wall and knocks on it.

Josh: hmm. That's interesting.

Lin attempts to metal bend the wall down but find out that it's impossible.

Hiroshi: (speaker) I'm afraid you won't be able to metalbend that wall, Chief Beifong. That wall is made of pure platinum.

Lin: (smirks) anything else that's made of platinum?

Hiroshi: (speaker) yes. These mecha tanks are. (Unsure) why?

Lin: thought as much. (To the group) best we better stand back.

Tenzin: what are you up to, Lin?

She didn't say anything as Josh removes his specs and replaces them with a pair of contact lenses. Once they're in his eyes, Josh hands his glasses to Lin.

Josh: do you honestly think that you and your colleagues are safe in those tanks against me? You're wrong.

Hiroshi: (speaker, annoyed) you're just a useless metal bender, how are you going to bend platinum?

Josh swiftly reflects his arms around as the mecha tanks were being thrashed around as both friends and foes alike were shocked to find themselves in the presence of the first platinum bender.

Tenzin: Lin, when did you know about Josh's ability to bend platinum?

Lin: Since I've adopted him.

Korra: it's incredible.

The group continue to watch the lieutenant take down the mecha tanks. however, it didn't go well when the tanks launched electric cables entangling most of the group. Sometime later, Asumi finds out that Hiroshi is in league with the equalists who made an enemy of Republic city's only platinum bender. The next morning, Lin announced her resignation and had her son in charge of Republic city's police as commissioner.
