we all waited in the back of the church in silence. I held up my bow. I heard the creak of the heavy wooden door. I looked over to Rick. he held up a finger. I started counting down from 60.

after the minute, Rick silently told us to move to the front of the church. we silently walked up the steps and into the room.

"what are you doing here?" Rick stepped out. they all tinted around, we were hidden in the corners.
"Rick" Garrett said and chuckled. "I could say the same to you?".

everything went by in an instant. everyone from terminus was on their knees with gun to their head. I had mine to a girls head. tears were streaming down her cheeks and she was shaking. she looked to be about seventeen with a bandana wrapped around her head and black ripped shorts with a crop top. I was disappointed in myself for not feeling any pity for her. in another instant everyone was dead. Garrett no longer had a face, the girl had a hole in her forehead, everyone was dead. I shoved my gun back into my belt. I breathed out  slowly.

it was over.

"Carl" Rick said "pack up your stuff. We are leaving first thing in the morning." Carl nodded and we walked up the front church steps. We went to the back room and I grabbed my backpack. I quickly grabbed and a shirt and changed into it. I could just feel Carl staring at me.
"Enjoying the view?" I asked and smiled. I looked up at him, his face went red. I gathered up some of the things I had taken out of my bag the last couple days. One being the book I got for my birthday. I ran my fingers over the burned bird silhouettes. I opened to the first page. The picture that held my home and my whole family, well when most of them were alive. Next page, the picture of my dad, my mom, my sisters, and I. Dixon was written on the bottom with some random patterns. Next page, updated picture of my dad, Sam, and I. Next page, Carl and Judith with a note written from Carl.
'Rayne, happy birthday! I honestly don't know if this is going to be a birthday present or not but oh well. You are so cool and funny and super nice. I'm glad you found your dad and a part of our family now. God I'm bad at this.
-Carl.'
That's what was written with a little scribble where Carl must have gave Judith a pen. Next page, a picture of Sam and I. I quickly turned the page and a picture fell out. I picked it up and it framed Carl and I. His arms around my waist and my arms hugged his neck.

CARLS POV

"are you guys ready?!" My dad called from downstairs. I lightly shook Rayne awake. She sat up and grabbed her backpack. She threw a sweatshirt at her since it was probably December.

"Come on!" It was Daryl this time. I looked over at Rayne, she nodded and took my hand. We walked out of the room and were pushed out the door.
"Where are we even going?" I asked.
"There's a place I heard of. It's called Alexandria. A safe zone." Emily said. I looked over at Rayne who was almost sleep walking.
"Rayne" I squeezed her hand. Her head bolted up.
"Hey" she said "I was almost sleep walking" she laughed. She wasn't a morning person at all. Even her dad said she wasn't a morning person, ever since she was little. She had the most perfect smile.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"Emily was talking about this Alexandria place. A safe zone he said." I told her.
"Carl" she started "I honestly don't trust anyplace that claims to be a safe zone after terminus."
"I know. But we don't have a choice being the kids now." I looked around the group. We all walked in a line. Basically blocking the road. Not like anyone would drive down

We walked for a while. A couple hours when we were greeted by huge gates. I was pretty nervous about this place. I squeezed rayne's hand tighter. She looked me in the eyes. My dad and Daryl walked up to the gates. Daryl gave me a nod which read, you keep my girl safe little man. I nodded back. I pushed Rayne behind my back and grabbed gun. My dad started banging on the gate. It opened the slightest bit and a head poked out.

"Hello" he said "I'm Aaron." He held his hand and my dad took it. Daryl, Emily, and Rayne held out their bows. Rayne still hid behind my back.
"Rick grimes" I heard my dad say
"Are you here to raid us?" Aaron asked. Do we really look that strong?
"No" my dad said "we are seeking salvation." Aaron nodded and welcomed us in the gates. We all walked in, everyone lowered their weapons. Weather it be metal poles, guns, knifes, or crossbows. It was an amazing sight to see. Kids ran around in the streets while parents and a couple elderly people sat on porches. The only thing that was different form the past was that adults carried guns and kids carried knifes. I introduced myself to Aaron and his boyfriend Eric.

"Carl grimes" I said "ricks son" they both shook my hand.
"Rayne Dixon" Rayne said "daryls daughter" they shook hands. Once everyone was greeted and introduce Aaron stood in front of us all.
"Well" he said and held his hands together. "We can place you guys in the corner of Alexandria. But we have some ground rules for the safety of our other residents. 1) kids and teens don't carry guns, or crossbows"he looked at Rayne. "You can keep those in your rooms.
2) no going off the property unless granted permission. 3) we prefer you carry smaller guns around and kept under your shirts. Now, follow me." He turned on his heel and started to the other side of Alexandria.

I looked around the whole place while holding rayne. hopefully this will be the place to keep her safe from whatever her mom told me to keep her from. I looked over to her as she gazed around the sight. I took in her beauty while she took in the beauty around her. I smiled and gave heart eyes. she looked over to me.

"you're so cheesy" she said and his her face. I took her hand away from her vibrant eyes and kissed her softly.
"cause you are the most beautiful person I've ever met" I said. she blushed and rolled her eyes. I laughed.

I was completely in love with rayne Dixon.
