Chapter 13: time pass

RANYES POV

It's been 5 months that we have been living in Alexandria. Maggie was getting pretty big and noticeably pregnant. I had gotten closer to Enid and especially Carl

"Rayne! Carl!" Maggie called from downstairs "do you need anything from the store? Beth and Dan are going on a run!" I pulled away from Carl kissing me.
"You need anything?" I asked. He shook his head.
"Nope!" I called out. Carl pulled me back into him. I jumped at the sound of the door knocking. I pulled away from Carl and opened it. Sam.
"What's up?" I asked.
"Can I come in?" She asked. I opened the door for her. She paces the floor and breathed heavy.
"Seriously what's up?" I asked. She took a deep breath.
"Okay, so me and Enid have been taking" I interrupted her
"Enid and I" I was very picky on grammar. She made a face.
"Okay. Enid and I, we're planning on sneaking out. Just going to the woods. She says she's done it before. And she's come back every time and has never been caught. And she wanted to know if you guys wanted to come along." I looked at Carl. He looked back at me and shrugged. There's really nothing better to do. I haven't come across more then 10 walkers in the pass 5 months. I needed my skills back.
"Okay. When?"
"We are having Enid over for lunch today. After we are done, we said we were going to go out for a little bit. Not talking out of the fences. Even though that's what we are doing." She said.
"Okay" Carl said.
"Thanks guys. Enid promised that we'd have fun." She gave us both a hug and left the room. I looked over at Carl.
"Are we really doing this?" I asked and laid down. He turned over to me.
"Sam seemed super excited. Obviously Enid has something in store." He said. "Now where were we?" He threw his hat and pulled me up. He turned my around pulled me back into his chest and wrapped his arms around me.
"I love you Rayne Dixon." he said.
"I love you Carl Grimes." I said back.

AFTER LUNCH

CARLS POV

"Thanks Carol" Enid said and set her plate in the sink.
"No problem Enid" Carol said and winked. I looked over at Enid and nodded. She nodded back.

"Hey Carol?" I asked "Can Rayne and I go walk around with Enid and Layla?" I tried to sound as sweet as I could.
"You know you don't have to ask me anymore Carl" she put a hand on my shoulder. "Your 16. Basically an adult. Just stay safe, shortie." She smiled. People always called me that. Along the lines of little man, shortie, or daryls favorite. 5'4. Rayne is still the littlest bit shorter then me. So I was still winning. I took Raynes hand and we all walked out the door. Enid started leading the way. We hid behind some over turned tables the kids used for hide and seek. Judith was about two now and wanted to participate. Her first word was 'da' not 'da' as in dad. But 'da' as in Daryl. She soon followed by a 'l' so she said Daryl for the longest time. So it mostly sounded like Dale. But we knew she meant Daryl. Enid waves to us and we ran to the back gate. She looked around and climbed it quietly. And we snuck out. I let out a breath. I had finally snuck out. I've always wanted to get out. We walked into the woods.

"So what do you even have in mind?" Rayne asked. Enid looked back and smirked.
"You'll see" that kinda worried me. But whatever. We walked for about 5 minutes till we reached an open field.
"Okay" Enid turned around to face us "you guys ready for this?"
"What are we doing here?" I asked.
"Well" Enid took off her back pack and pulled out multiple bottles of neon paint. "Here" she threw us each a bottle.
"What are we doing?" Rayne asked
"You can't tell me you've never had a paint fight!" Sam said and opened her bottle. She got paint on my shirt and ran across the field. I got mine open and ran after her. I looked behind me and saw Rayne and Enid squirting paint on eachother. I now had green and pink paint in my hair. I felt someone slap paint across my back. I turned and saw Rayne. I ran to her and grabbed her waist. I took my hand that was covered in paint and smeared it on her cheek and in her hair. Soon after we ran out of paint. I grabbed Rayne by her waist and kissed her.
"Awe come on guys!" Sam said. I waved her off.
"Well, love birds, Sam and I are heading back" Enid said. Rayne pulled away and grabbed my hand. We walked behind Sam and Enid. I squeezed her hand.

"I love you" I said.
"I love you too" she squeezed my hand back.

When we started getting close to the gates, Enid told us to take off our shoes so there wouldn't be paint tracks outside the gates. When we walked on porch, Carol yelled at us for being covered in paint.
"You guys!" She yelled "you are going to get paint all over the porch! Go get in the shower Rayne! Carl you sit outside!" Rayne rushed into the house to take a shower. I walked over to Enid's house.

"Well thanks Enid!" I called to her "carols pissed" I laughed at it.
"Well this isn't the first time this happened. You had fun though right?"
"Definitely." I said "we have to this again." I stayed there with Enid for a little while. Discussing how the heck we'd be able to get paint again till I heard my name behind me.
"Carl!" Carol called from the front door. "Get in the shower! You to Enid!"
I turned back to Enid.

"See you tonight" I said. They were planning on having a huge party with everyone in Alexandria. I ran home and straight into the shower. It was hard to get the paint all of my skin. So I was color stained. I eventually got out and changed into clean clothes.

"Carol?" She turned around "what do I even do with these?" I asked. She was very picky about keeping the house clean.
"Just throw them outside with Raynes clothes in the backyard." She said. I nodded and threw them on the lawn. I walked outside and found Rayne with Sam, who was free of paint. They never left each other, seeing they are sisters.

"Do you really think so Rayne?" I over heard Sam say.
"I don't know. But I want to make a run to get the thing to make sure." Rayne said.
"Okay. Me you and Dan can go right before the cook out." Sam turned around to face me.

"Oh hey Carl. You got some pretty colorful hair going on there." She said.
"Yeah. Rayne can I talk to you real quick?" I asked her.
"Yeah" she said and got up. I held out my hand and took her away.

"love you" she said and hugged me.
"Love you too" I said back.
