TW: Slight transphobia

I wanted to make one relatable to how I feel and many others feel during the holidays when having to visit parents who aren't the best or most supportive.

Dread.

That's all Alex felt after getting off the phone with his mother. Jack could see in his boyfriend's eyes as he came downstairs.

"We have to go see them this year," Alex stated blankly.

Jack's heart dropped when he heard those words from Alex's mouth. Angry flashed in his eyes, "Alex, no we don't. They hurt you, you can't go see them just for them to do it again!"

"Maybe this time they changed Jackie!"

"Lex we both know them. They haven't fucking changed! They just want to crush you again now that you are comfortable!"

Alex opened his mouth but then closed it knowing the sunk-haired boy was right. "But they are my parents Jack I have to see them at least once!"

Jack sighed knowing there was no way to change Alex's mind, "Fine we can see them but the moment they start to crush you we are leaving. Without gifts!"

Alex smiled slightly, "Thank you." With that, the two watched Home Alone for the millionth time.

Small time skip to Christmas eve

Jack parked the car outside of the house and stared at Alex who was having second thoughts going inside. Alex looked up as Jack exited the vehicle and opened his door. Alex got out with a shakey smile and the two walked to the door. Jack couldn't shake the feeling he was being watched as they walked up to the door and Alex knocked.

The sound of dog nails on the hardwood floor and Alex's mother's shrill voice calling, "Just one minute!"

Alex sighed and put on a fake smile as his mother opened the door, "Alexandria! So glad you could make it!"

Alex flinched at being called his dead name but shook it off as he and Jack got let in. As the couple walked in Jack knew they were in for a long day when he heard Alex's mother call out, "Honey! Alexandria is here!"

Alex gripped Jack's hand tightly and they both sat down on the couch. They both looked at each other and they knew it was going to be a long night. Jack could tell it wasn't going to end pretty but before he could say anything he was cut off.

"Dinner is done you two!"

Both boys let out a sigh of relief before going into the kitchen to eat. But Alex's mother pushed Jack to one side and Alex to the other. Jack looked at Alex whose face showed how confused and hurt he was at this but Alex's mother shot him a look of disgust making Alex look down in shame. Jack sighed knowing for sure that night was going to be long and challenging.

*Another time skip*

After dinner, the boys settled on the couch close to each other to open presents Alex's mother got them. Alex opened his first one and imminently his face fell as he saw a pack of make-up. Alex looked at Jack with a qwizy face making Jack furrow his brow and start to get angry. Alex gathered what little presents his mother and father got him while they all talked about the weather and such. Alex sighed when they got done and hesitantly opened another one. Alex felt his binder tighten around his ribs as he saw what his mother got him.

"You'll look so cute in this Alexandria!" Alex's mother squealed.

Alex got up and quickly walked to the door with a few presents as Jack gathered up the rest and handed them to his boyfriend who then sat them outside before sitting on the steps himself.

"Why can't you guys accept him?! He's happier now! He's started HRT he isn't your Little girl anymore he's a full-grown man! Why force him to be something he's not?!" Jack spat.

"YOU MADE HER THIS WAY! YOU TURNED HER INTO A MONTOURUS FREAK!" Alex's mother cried back.

Jack looked at them and walked to the door but before he left he let his final words ring in their head, "We are never coming back I hope you loved driving away your son and son-in-law you're alone now. Call us when you finally change your point of view."

Jack slammed the door behind him before huffing it to the car where Alex sat with the rest of the presents and got in

"Why don't we donate these to a charity so transwomen can have nice things?"

Alex smiled a bit enough at the idea of someone who isn't affirmed at home getting affirming things before the two headed off back home to have their own Christmas with people who actually cared about them.
