Idea inspired by a Heeki book I am writing
Ni-ki got out of the pool along with the other students, shivering as the cold air hit his wet body. He realized with a sinking feeling that he had forgotten his towel.
His teeth chattered as he tried to dry his drenched hair with his hands. He looked around, hoping for a miracle solution, but his eyes met the mischievous gaze of Heeseung.
Heeseung smirked at Ni-ki's predicament and teased, "Looks like someone's having a bad hair day. Maybe I should get you a hairdryer, Ni-ki."
Ni-ki scowled at Heeseung, his violet eyes narrowing. "Very funny, Heeseung. I'm sure you'd love that, wouldn't you?"
Heeseung pretended to ponder the idea. "Hmm, actually, it could be entertaining. But I suppose I could lend you my towel. Call it a truce, just this once."
Ni-ki hesitated for a moment, surprised by Heeseung's unexpected offer. "You? Lending me your towel? Since when did you become Mr. Nice Guy?"
Heeseung shrugged nonchalantly. "Consider it a one-time exception. Otherwise, I can't guarantee what antics I might come up with next."
Ni-ki reluctantly accepted the towel, wrapping it around his shivering body. "Thanks, I guess. But don't think this means I owe you anything."
Heeseung laughed, a glimmer of warmth in his eyes. "Oh Ni-ki, we're just enemies who happen to enjoy teasing each other. No debts needed."
As the two walked away from the pool, Heeseung's subtle actions towards Ni-ki became more evident. Whenever they passed by a group of students, Heeseung would subtly steer Ni-ki away from any potential bullies, his protective instincts in full force.
One day, as they were leaving their music class, Heeseung noticed Ni-ki struggling with his heavy bag. With a smile, he gently took it from him, much to Ni-ki's surprise.
Ni-ki protested, "Hey, I can carry my own bag, you know."
Heeseung shrugged, his lips curling into a fond grin. "Sure you can, but that doesn't mean I can't help. It's what 'enemies' do, right?"
They continued their teasing banter, their bond growing stronger with each passing day. Ni-ki slowly began to understand that beneath Heeseung's playful facade, there was a genuine care and concern for him.
And in moments like these, when Heeseung's subtle and selfless actions spoke louder than words, Ni-ki couldn't help but wonder if their 'rivalry' might someday blossom into something more.
