Mr. Daniels was still at the house when Professor X returned home. Y filled him on the afternoon's events as the Professor sat him at the island, giving Mr. Daniels and Mary some space.

"Babe, I still have a fifteen minute walk I haven't used yet. You don't need to carry me." Y rolls his eyes, the Professor kissing his cheek after sitting him on a stool at the island. "Mn, we should get dinner started. Let them, start to make up for lost time." He says softly, looking over at his parents. His Father is holding his Mother close, stroking her hair and murmuring to her. "I think, they'll be okay. Eventually. Don't you?" He asks, looking hopefully at his husband.

"Mn, I do baby. You brought them back together." Professor X hugs him from behind, kissing his neck and speaking softly. "It might not be the family they should have had, but you've given them both the family they always wanted. And, it's going to expand soon."

"Mn." Y wipes at his eyes, turning to pout at the Professor. "You just had to say expand, didn't you?" He giggles, the Professor nipping at his neck and rubbing his stomach. "Oh!" He groans, Zi delivering a mighty kick. He grins at the Professor and slides off the stool, shyly approaching his parents. "Uhm, would you like to feel your granddaughter, Grandpa?" He asks, his Father blushing and nodding. "Oof. You weren't a soccer player, were you Dad?"

"Actually, I dabbled a bit." Mr. Daniels says, his eyes rounding as Y places his hand on his stomach. "Oh." His voice is a shocked whisper, tears springing to his eyes.

"That's your granddaughter." Y says, smiling at the way his Father quietly weeps. "I know, you missed this when Mom was carrying me. I thought, you shouldn't miss it this time."

"Thank you." Mr. Daniels smiles up at his son. "Wow, she's a powerful little lady already."

"I know. I doubt my bladder will ever be the same." Y says, chuckling softly. "Babe! Okay, okay. Let's get dinner started. Can we make a shepherds pie?" He asks, scooped up into the Professor's arms.

"Mn, that sounds good. You can dice the carrots while I cook the ground beef. We don't have any lamb." Professor X says, taking him back to the island.

"You know, I didn't know it's traditionally made with lamb until you told me?" Y says, giggling as he's sat down on a stool.

"Boys, I can make dinner." Mary says, rising from the sofa and looking anxious. "I need to earn my keep." She grins, but pauses.

"No. Just having you here, makes him happy." Professor X says, shooing her back into the living room. "Plus, you're keeping an eye on the most important thing in the world to me. You don't need to earn your keep here, Mom." He bows his head, hurrying back to the kitchen.

Y gives his husband a beautiful smile and reaches out to squeeze his hand. The Professor kisses his cheek and then places a cutting board, knife, and carrots on the island before him. Y laughs and sets to work dicing the vegetables. The Professor starts to brown the ground beef and pulls out a small bag of potatoes, wrinkling his nose at Y.

"Ahem. Boys, just use instant potatoes and season them." Mary offers, smiling. "It's much more efficient and tastes pretty much the same."

"Great idea. I hate peeling potatoes." Y says, grinning at his husband and giving him a wink. "It's nice to have a shortcut once in a while babe."

"Alright baby. Potato peeling isn't my favorite task either." Professor X says, returning the bag to its shelf.

"Mm, I know your favorite task." Y snickers, the Professor giving him a stern look. "It's what got me looking like this." He winks, giggling as the Professor leans over to kiss him.
