Taesan arrived home with a bounce in his step, a delightful aroma wafting from the small pastry box he held. He greeted his mother with a warm smile, presenting her with the chocolate pastry he had saved from the local café he had been in with his friends.

'Look what I got for you, mom! The café near our school has this amazing "Chocolate Puff Pastry Twists" and I thought you might like it,' Taesan exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with the joy of sharing a little treat.

His mother who was sitting on the couch, touched by the gesture, accepted the pastry with a grateful smile. 'You always know how to brighten my day, Taesan. Let's see if this little pastry of yours beats my baking skills!'

They shared a lighthearted laugh, the warm of their chat filling the room. As Taesan settled into the joyous atmosphere, he couldn't help but notice his mother's preoccupation with her phone. She seemed engrossed in a series of messages, her expression a curious mix of concern and urgency,

'Mom, everything okay? You've been on the phone a lot since I arrived. Anything I should know about?' Taesan inquired, a subtle note of concern threading through his words.

His mother, momentarily caught off guard, managed a reassuring smile. 'Oh, it's just some work-related matters, nothing to worry about. You know how it is.'

Taesan, though not entirely convinced, chose not to press further. 'Alright, mom. Just wanted to make sure everything's fine.' He grinned. 'By the way, this chocolate pastry is a game-changer. You might need to step up your baking game to compete!'

His mother chuckled, appreciating the diversion from the phone issue. 'Challenge accepted, Taesan. We'll see who will reign as the pastry queen!'

The two continued to chat for a while, and Taesan decided to ignore his mother's constant texting. He realized that she had probably met a special man, and he was partly excited and partly nervous if that was the actual case.

'Well, mom, duty calls. I've got some Math homework to do.' He announced to his mother as he stood up from the couch.

'Alright, dear. Do your best.' She responded before her attention was completely snatched by her cellphone.

Taesan headed to his bedroom, wanting to get his homework done as soon as possible to get the burden off his shoulders. He placed his bag on the desk and carefully unzipped his backpack, pulling out his textbooks and notebooks. As he arranged the materials on his desk, a small, folded piece of paper caught his eye.

Curiosity piqued, he unfolded the note, revealing Amy-Janett's neat handwriting. The words on the paper seemed to be knitted in playful energy:

"Hey, you goofball,

So, I guess it's pretty obvious, but let me state the obvious – I like you. Yeah, like, a lot. And guess what? You're officially the first boy to make me confess my feelings. Congrats, idiot!'

But seriously, you make me smile, Taesan. I love our talks, our laughs, and the way you see the world. It's a bit scary putting this on paper, but hey, life's too short for holding back, right?

So, there it is – my not-so-secret confession. Let's see how you handle it.

P.S You better not make this awkward, or I'll have to blame you for making me write this in the first place.

· AJ"

Taesan's face lit up with a mixture of surprise and joy, and a touch of embarrassment. He chuckled at the playful tone of the note, appreciating the genuine warmth in Amy-Janett's words. The blush on his cheeks betrayed the excitement bubbling within him.
