The quaint humble home of Mr. Cho welcomed Taesan, who entered with anticipation. Amy-Janett, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood, teased him, 'remember, if he asks you a question about your favorite color, it's a trick question!'
He chuckled, grateful for her lightheartedness, and stepped into the room where Mr. Cho waited. The walls held a calm feeling, adorned with serene paintings.
Mr. Cho greeted Taesan with a warm smile, gesturing him to take a seat. 'Welcome, Taesan. How are you feeling today?'
Taesan settled into the chair, his eyes uncertain. 'I've been better, but I'm here to figure things out.'
Mr. Cho nodded understandingly. 'That's a good starting point. Now, could you tell me a bit about what brings you here? I know about it, and Amy-Janett told me about it, but I want to hear it from you.'
Taesan took a deep breath, beginning to unravel the layers. 'I've had violent outbursts since I was a child. Everyone obviously gets scared of me for that, and it feels like there's no way out.'
Mr. Cho listened attentively, his kind eyes showing empathy. 'It must have been challenging for you. But we can be able to work through that together.'
Taesan felt a bit encouraged and nodded.
'In fact,' the man continued with a glimmer of pride. 'I've worked with someone who faced similar challenges. His name was Han Hajoon. He was once in a dark place, but with time and the right support, he managed to get better.'
'Wait...Han Hajoon? Where is he?' the name sounded familiar, and this person possessed a surname just like his.
A gentle smile made its way to Mr. Cho's face. 'Well, he's still in prison but he no longer suffers from those outbursts. He worked hard and found his way to recovery. It goes to show that even seemingly insurmountable challenges can be overcome with therapy.'
'Han Hajoon...that's my grandfather! You helped him?'
'Oh,' Mr. Cho looked at him in shock. 'I had no idea he's your grandfather. That's interesting.'
Taesan absorbed the revelation, a newfound sense of hope rising in him. 'So, there's a chance for me to change? To no longer have these outbursts?'
'Absolutely. Your journey won't be easy, but it's possible. I believe in your potential, Taesan.'
Taesan smiled, now thankful that he had moved from the city and found himself at Green Haven. Not only did he make new friends, uncover secrets and gain hope – but he also gained a likely path to healing – something he had earned for all his life. He was thankful.
