Part 22 - Phillip

"You Royal Highness, this is important and I can't have you risk doing that again. The next time if it happened and you were behind the wheels, I can't guarantee your safety. Your medication will only work if you actually follow protocol." The doctor lectured Henry and he sat there on the bed with his arm crossed around his chest as he waited for this guy to finish.

He wanted to show Alex the baby and if he agrees, they could have adopt him instead. It was a perfect plan until the doctor walked into the room and starts doing his examination and it fumed Henry even more when he was actually teaching the other doctor on Henry's case. He kept saying that Henry is a miracle to modern medicine which he already heard about that for thousand times in these past years.

"Fine, fine, alright, can I go now?" Henry snapped as he stood and grabbed his coat that he wore yesterday. "Hen, listen to the doctor. Please." Alex tried to reason with him. "No! He's taking too much of my time, we need to hurry." Henry said and pulled Alex by his wrist before he headed out of the room leaving the doctors and his team there.

He sprinted to the elevator and pressed the button multiple time hoping it would open fast but it doesn't work that way.

"Hen, calm down, what is going on? Why are we in the rush?" Alex asks and Henry pulled him inside the elevator before pressing the button to the floor. "I'll explain later, we need to hurry." He replied and Alex kept his silence.

As soon as they arrived by the nursery, Alex was confused, Henry literally like lizard on the wall cupping his eyes on the glass window looking for something on the other side of the room. "Henry I don't think we are allowed to do that." Alex pulled him by his waist as he kept looking inside.

"No! No no no no no." Henry mutters and Alex could see how upset he got. "NO!" Henry banged the window and it spooked all the baby inside and Alex could hear all of them cried and the nurses starts to look at them in anger. One of them went out to see what is Henry so frustrated about that made him almost break the glass panel.

"What on earth do you think you're doing?" The nurse ask. Alex could see the nurse has all the years in her, with her glasses hanging by her chest and her grey hair underneath her cap.

"Th-The baby, the one that has blonde hair and fussing all night. Oh god! I don't even know his name. He probably about a month or less than." Henry tried to explain not making any sense to Alex. "The junkie baby?" The nurse asks and Henry hated that word, he gripped his hair and nodded weakly.

"The legal people took him, he needs to be sent to foster before the court decides on him." The nurse answered and Henry broke in front of her. "No, no no no." he fall on his knees before he sat on the cold hard floor leaning against the wall. He pulled his knees to his chest as he sobs. Alex thanked the nurse and she went back inside while Alex seated next to Henry on the floor and pulled him into his chest.

"I lost him." He says and Alex hushed him as he stroke his head. "You should have seen him babe. He was beautiful. His hair, his cheeks. His eyelashes, exactly like yours." Henry cries and Alex pulled him tighter into his embrace. "I'm so sorry I couldn't see him Hen, I bet he is beautiful." Alex states and hushed him in comfort.

The car ride back home was silent and Henry kept his gaze outside the window. Alex kept stealing glances at him hoping he would say something but Henry kept his silence. His hands fiddling with his rings and Alex knew he is still thinking about that kid. "Hen." Alex called taking Henry hand in his to stop him from his nervous ticks, he could see Henry exhaled closing his eyes as he wrapped his fingers over Alex's hand.

"I didn't even know his name." Henry whispered after a few minutes of silence. Alex shot his eyes at him in surprised and sat closer to Henry. He took Henry's intertwined hand in his and brought to his lips, planting soft kisses on his knuckles. Henry smiled as he turned his gaze towards Alex in the car and rested his head on Alex's shoulder.
