Chapter 18

Rhea looked for the source of the voice, just as rushed whispers went through the entire crowd.

"Oh my God, it's him!"

"I saw him, I swear I just saw-"

"What is he doing here?"

The spotlight blared on an extremely handsome, smiling face. He walked through the crowd, towards the stage and Rhea, waving at the onlookers, his eyes crinkling.

He was the heartthrob.

Karthik Gulati.

He climbed the steps which led to the stage, and walked towards Rhea, as she shuffled her feet, shyly.

Malvika and Niharika were swooning, and the guys exchanged shocked looks with each other.

"You know Karthik Gulati?" Niharika hissed in Rhea's ear.

"He's the date I was talking about", Rhea whispered back, and Niharika clapped her hands on her mouth. She passed the information along to Malvika who gasped audibly.

To say that Karthik Gulati was good-looking would be an understatement. Karthik ruled the telly industry and it was also rumoured that he had bagged a leading role in a Bollywood movie under a very renowned director. He had that charming face and smirk which made girls go weak in their knees. He was very tall, even taller than Varun and Anish, and he was wearing a casual sleeveless shirt which displayed his bulging biceps. One could literally see his abs through his shirt. He was wearing shorts, his hair looked windswept. They were dark brown in colour. His eyes were melting chocolate, and he had a neat jawline. He had a cute boy-next door image but also an intense, rugged look which made him immensely appealing and sexy.

No wonder he had a huge female fan following.

He however appeared good natured, and as he approached Rhea, he said, "Hey... Fancy seeing you again."

Rhea chuckled lightly and said, "Hi.. What are you doing here? I thought you were going to go shooting for some film or something?"

The crowd cheered and yelled, so Karthik replied, "I'll explain to you later. It's rude to ignore people who love me." He winked at Rhea, caught Malvika and Niharika looking at him, and grinned at them.

"Oh my God, I think I'm having a myocardial infarction", said Malvika, audibly, and Karthik's grin widened and he smirked.

He grabbed the mic in front of Rhea, and yelled, "Goodevening Goa! How you doin'?"

The crowd literally went crazy. All the girls started shrieking and they shouted his name, and the guys were bellowing too. Rhea laughed at the crowd's reaction and then she caught Anish's eye. He grinned widely at her and winked. Then he nodded towards Varun.

Rhea looked at Varun and he saw him standing next to Kritika, his mouth wide open. He looked at Rhea and mouthed, "Do you know him?"

Rhea nodded and then something like knowledge flashed in Varun's eyes as Rhea understood that everything clicked into place right now. She knew he figured it out that Karthik was her date. Rhea saw his hands slowly balling into fists, and she found that she was enjoying that he was jealous and angry. She felt slightly ashamed to be enjoying that, but she ignored it regardless.

Varun turned and walked away without a word, which was surprising and immature on his part. What was more surprising was that Kritika didn't follow him, but she just glared at Rhea and Karthik, and crossed her arms. She also looked a little tensed, and after a few minutes she turned and walked away, towards where Anish was standing and whispered something in his ear. Anish nodded and she grabbed his hand and exited the gate.
