Chapter Twenty-eight

Chris's Pov
I was driving in the direction of Era's house.
"Are you okay Era?" I said looking at her.
"I am good just a little pain." She said giving me a fake smile.
I know she is now having both physical and mental pain with a clouding thought of the impact of todays incident on the media. I am aware of everything.
All I wanna do is to make her feel stable and comfortable again.
I stopped the car.
"Are we there?" She said waking up from her thoughts.
"No. Era can I take you somewhere? The place is quiet away from the city."
"You're asking for a permission?" She said giving me a smile.
"Actually it was away from the city so I.."
"I trust you rather I only trust you four here in these country." She said I gave her a warm smile on the comment and started driving towards the place.

As we were away from the city. I opened the windows of the car strong breeze hit Era's face and she looked out of the window. I was driving to Bronx River Forest. Its my favourite place I am sure Era will like it.

She was now smiling. I stopped the car.
"Lets go by walking now." I said. Era can walk slowly.
"Is these some sort of a forest?"
"Yeah its Bronx River Forest it is mostly visited by many during day but quite at night."
"Woah! You got me to Bronx River Forest. I've heard about these place and even saw many pictures. It's beautiful. Thank you so much." She said walking in the forest.
"Wait for me you will get lost." I said and she came back.
"You're right. I don't want to leave you alone. You'll be lost then. How will I find you? Lets hold hands." She said grabbing my hand. I chuckled, I knew she was scared for herself.
"Okay." I said holding her hand tight in mine. My heart raced when I held her hand.

I was taking her to the waterfall. She was clinging to my hand. I feel good about it but I don't know why her grip feels like she is scared.

We were going towards the waterfall when Era spotted a firefly.
"Wow look at it." She said.
"Woah! They are not here around these time of the year."
"That's the surprise then. Can I go follow it?"
"Okay. Just be in eye shoot." She left my hand and started walking behind the firefly. The firefly took us to a tree it was full of fireflies it was magical.

"Wow! Its so beautiful."
"Yeah it is!" I said but not for the thing Era was watching but for the person I was watching.
Moon light hiting her face and the fireflies adding to her already existing beauty. She spine while enjoying the moment. She looked like a fairy. The light made her glow. Not only her beautiful face but also the beautiful soul. She is beautiful. Her soul is kind and full of beauty, the face is just a cherry on the top.
"Ouch."
"Era be careful." I said running towards her as she was about to fall.
"I shouldn't have brought you here you need rest."
"I am really thankful that you brought me here. You were going to show me the waterfall right? Lets go."
"But you're leg."
"Its okay. I want to see it please."
"But.."
"Please." She showed me her puppy eyes.
"Okay. But on one condition. I'll carry you. I can't let your leg have much pressure or you'll get facture."
"But you'll be tired. How will you walk so long with me in your arms?"
"I can do that. I do gym mam. And you are really easy to carry."
"Yeah but okay give me a piggy bag ride from here then again you can carry me back to the car these way your hand won't pain a lot."
"Okay. Come." I said and she hopped on my back.

"Can I ask you something Chris?"
"Hmm." I said.
"Why are you doing these for me?"
"Because I know you're disturbed right now. And the reason is me too. But most importantly I want to help you solve problems you have in your mind. You can ask me anything. I know you'll surely be out of your mental dilemma as we leave for your house today. And maybe the reason is also the fact that you're my soon to be wife. I just have to do it." I said.

"Can I ask you something Era?"
"Yes."
"You seemed scared when we were in the woods and you hesitantly followed the firefly making sure you didn't loose my eyesight. What is it? I don't think you're the one to be afraid of dark or anything else." She sadly chuckled.
"I am afraid to dark forests. You remember I told you my story. I said I ran out from the orphanage right? That night before reaching the city. I had to go through a dark forest. It was creepy. I was small and all alone. I was so scared. I yet remember the sound of jungle haunting me. That cold breeze scaring me. Those voices of owls giving me a creepy feeling. I was scared a lot. I was feeling lonely. I thought I'll die in these jungle. It was haunting experience. I was never sure where I'd end up? But I had 2 options 1. To go back to the orphanage and again live that horrific life. 2. To go ahead and let the destiny take me to death or a better life. I choose the 2nd option and see that gave me the life you're seeing today. But I yet have a little fear of dark forests as the fear of that night is struck in my mind since childhood. I love exploring places like these but it sometimes somewhat scares me." She said. I felt a sharp pain in my heart as I heard her saying. I was really sad about her. That pure soul had to go through a lot at very young age.
I made her sit on a nearby rock. I saw a lone tear following from her eye. I quickly rubbed it by my thumb and said.
"Don't worry you like exploring these things right? We'll explore them together and I'll be at your side whenever you feel sad or alone. I promise I'll always be there Era." We both had an eye contact which was broken by the voice of water flowing. We were finally near the waterfall.

"Wow! These is so beautiful."
"Lets sit near to it." I said and picked her up.
We were now peacefully siting near the waterfall. Era enjoying the waterfall view and I the beautiful view of a pure soul siting besides me wanting nothing and giving many things. 

                     Era's Pov
I was enjoying the beautiful waterfall in front of me. A thought crossed my mind. What's wrong in letting the company investigate me? Chris has done so much for me. He risked everything to help me today. Its okay. I am ready to let them investigate me. The price is really good. Chris as my husband there is nothing better. He wanted to make me feel safe and comfortable. But his presence makes me feel safe and comfortable.
These view is peaceful because its him besides me or it would have been terrible for me. I looked at Chris and found him already looking at me.

"You know I'm ready. Let them investigate me. What's the big deal?" I said and smiled.
"What about your family not being there for the wedding?"
"Its okay. Aster, Emma, Lisa, Sam, Leo and all of them are my family too."

                     Chris's Pov
She finally was at ease. I like it when she smiles. I hope it never fades. And like I promised I'll always be there for her. We waited there for some time and I took her back to her house.

"Bye. Good night." She said.
"Are you sure you can walk up? I can help you."
"No I called Bhaiyya down. Dad called you right? You go there convey my greetings."
"Okay good night."
"Go now."
"Let Aman pick you up first." I said and she smiled.
"Here he is bye now."
"Okay bye."

                   Era's Pov
As I went to my apartment. Maher was already there.
"Why are you here?"
"You guys are already trending. You both are the hot search of New York. Thank God, the media did not capture your face. There is no clip of you so its not a big deal but people there might have seen you. How to explain it?"
She showed me the clip of todays incident.
"What the hell? What now?" I said looking at those pictures and video clips.
"We are having a meeting tomorrow at the company. You'll be in great trouble." She said.
Well I know that. I should have been careful. I have to face it now.

"Its okay. I'll face it. Thanks for alerting me."
"Always be careful with your foot okay." She said hugged me and gave a smile to bhaiyya and went to her house.

"Bhaiyya what was that smile for?" I said as she went.
"Nothing." He said and blushed.
"Oh god. What is it I have to know?"
"Stop it Era. Its just your Best friend Priya whom you call Maher is my friend. She lived in London for a while. I know her. And nothing else."
"Nothing else." I said teasing him.

"Okay stop it now. What about you everything okay?"
"Yeah. I think there is nothing wrong in investigation. I'll let them do that."
"I don't agree to it. But decision is all yours. Bunny I just hope you always keep smiling and be happy." He said and kissed my forehead. His loving gestures always makes me feel like I am yet his small baby. It is really adorable and cute.
"I wish the same for you. By the way, when are you going?"
"Tomorrow evening."
"Don't go without meeting me okay?"
"Yes bunny. I am sorry we can't attend your wedding."
"Its okay but you have to be present on the video call. Even if it happens to be at night."
"Okay we will surely be there." Bhaiyya said and we went to sleep.

I of course was worrying about tomorrow but my mind was clam and peaceful too.

The investigation is not a big deal. I am having Chris the most pure soul. I'd really do anything for you Chris. I promise that I'll always be at your side and protect you.

                         Chris's Pov
I could see that smiling face of Era yet in front of my eyes. Lying on my mattress thinking about her. I felt that there is something taking me towards her. I know one thing no one will investigate my wife. I won't let them for sure.

Era maybe you're really the one I always wished for. I want to protect you from everything. I promise I'll always be there.
