Chapter Four

Era's Pov
"Will you guys let me explain now?" We sat at the table and ordered some starters which we knew neither of us was going to eat, but we had to order it for staying in hotel. "Era what is going on? I am so confused please tell us." Shanaya said in a confused tone. "This is a very long story. I used to live in an orphanage. Being an orphan I never knew what family love was but always carved for it. I never had any idea of my parents or I didn't even knew my birthday or name. I was named Era in the orphanage and I can't be thankful enough for them to give me such beautiful name. I love my name because it was the only thing I can call mine. In orphanage or rather I would say a jail we were given studies, food and a place to sleep but we had to work too. My caretaker she was really greedy she used to beat us children even on the small mistakes we made. We were forbidden to behave like a child when we were children. That's where I got the fear of loud voices being a child and watching our caretaker shout and beat us mercilessly had effect on my mental health which I yet do. I had a best friend her name was Maher she was a year older than me she came in the orphanage when her family died due to car accident. She was the lucky one in us because she saw her parents was there with them had memories of them and knew everything about herself. She came when I was seven. We became so close within a year. We were each others support system. Each others comfort place we grew together, cried together and once in awhile laughed together. Everything was fun until Maher was adopted when she was 11 and I didn't wanted her to go. So at the day when her new parents came to take her I had hidden her, but being a 10 year old child I didn't fool the caretaker and those people and they took Maher away. I was badly beaten by the caretaker to do this. When I ran and sat at a corner of the bed to get saved from beating she pulled me down holding my legs I had great fall off the bed and then I was beaten badly by rolling pin and her foot. I cried so much that day and now I didn't even had any shoulder to lean on they took my happiness away . I decided to run away from orphanage. I sneaked safely without anyone noticing but to my luck soon after walking some distance away from orphanage it started raining heavily. I remember that night it yet gives me shivers throughout my body." Till now I was kind off unable to speak, my anxiety have took over me every memory and every struggle of that day came in front of my eyes, by this time I was crying badly. Shanaya kept a hand on my hand.

Aditya's Pov
I haven't got an appropriate answer to my question yet, but it no more worries me. Era never showed anyone that she have gone through all of this. She always was the cheerful girl who would light up all of us in our dark times. Today was the first time I saw her crying like that.
Inside me it felt like some one stabbing my heart. I can't see her crying like that it hurt me to the core of my heart. I was angry and that caretaker. But right now I just wanted to comfort Era. I stood up and hugged her. She cried on my shoulder and some tears flow down my cheek.

Shanaya's Pov
After hearing Era I was really shocked. I never knew this cheerful girl has gone through these type of things. I was hurt too. I put a hand on Era's hand. Suddenly my eyes went to Aditya. I saw pain in his eyes, I know him he can't take it he won't even let a single mosquito to trouble his love ones. And specially Era from when she joined Aditya hasn't let a small piece of dust trouble her. But seeing Aditya made me emotional. Like the way he can't tolerate Era's pain, I can't tolerate his pain it makes me weak. I was sad for Era but looking at Aditya made me emotional. I got up and went to both of them and we all hugged for couple of minutes.

Era's Pov
Shanaya and Aditya were hugging me, I felt a great comfort. Our little movement was destroyed by the waiter coming with our order. We realised where we were and both of them sat on their chairs again I continued my story. "The next day I was at the city as orphanage was quiet away from the city it took me whole night to come in Mumbai. I was crossing the road but as I have never crossed it before I didn't know what to do at least I knew the traffic rules. But theory only can't help you enough, a car was going to hit me but the driver stooped it in the right time. An old lady came out of the car. She asked me about my whereabouts I told her I don't have anyone she saw me drained in water due to the rain."

Few years back
Grandmothers Pov
"Come little girl we will go to my house and get cleaned okay. If you stay like this you will get sick." I saw the girl being scared I patted her head and reassured her and took her to the car. "Hi my name is Aman, and you are?" "Era" the replied to my grandson sitting in the car. "Era, what a name! You do look perfect for it." "Ma, what is the meaning of Era." "Aman, Era means 'snow'. "Oh wow, she does looks like snow really pretty." We laughed the girl was silent all the way to our home. Aman kept talking to her but she didn't reply much her face was showing that she was scared.

Era's Pov
The grandma took me to her home and gave me nice pair of clothes to change in they were the little boys cloths who was very cheerful. I changed then they even offered me food I was hungry from yesterday so I ate it really fast. "So Era you don't have any family." I shook my head. "Come on I know you can talk say something or I'll start calling you mute." Aman said and laughed. "Stop it, Aman." He immediately kept quiet when grandma said that. I told the grandma all of my story Aman was there too. They told me to take rest in a room, I did what they told me Aman was older than me he was 14 he showed me my room and told me to come to him if I felt scared of sleeping alone and showed me his room. Currently I was lying at the room. And before me knowing I was deeply asleep.

Grandmother's Pov
"Ma please lets adopt her. I wanted someone to accompany me, I wanted a little sister please lets adopt her." "Aman its not that easy we don't know her." "We already know enough ma please." After lots of convincing I finally agreed with Aman and we adopted this cute girl.

Present Time
Era's Pov
"That's how I was adopted by Ma." "But if he is your brother why did he behave like that." Shanaya said. "Yeah he behaved really rude. But just now you told us he was the one who convinced grandma to adopt you." Aditya said. "And where was Aman so many years we never saw him nor did you mention him. Where are his parents?" Shanaya said. "I know guys you have lots of questions and after I finished all of this story you will automatically know about everything." I said proceeding in my story.
