Chapter Thirty

                      Era's Pov
I was getting ready for the office. I stood in front of the mirror.
"You gotta face a lot today Era. Be strong." I said motivating myself. I am a little scared. I don't know what will happen today?

"Good morning bunny."
"Morning Bhaiyya."
"Going early?"
"Yeah, I am going to meet dad before office."
"Dad?"
"Oh, I call Mr. Rutherford as 'dad'."
"Oh. Well I'll be leaving at 6 at evening."
"Do you really have to go?" I said making a sad face.
"Bunny you know right? I have lots of things to do. The investigation and also I have to take care of Ma. I promise me and Ma will visit you soon."
"Okay. Please take care of Ma and yourself. I'll call her at night. I miss her and I'll miss you too." I said and hugged him.

"Era." I heard the voice of a little chaotic monster. Its Lisa of course.
"Oh, Hi dear." I said picking her up in my arms.
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"Oh, I am going to office. But where are you off too?"
"Daddy is going to leave me at school today."
"Wow. That's good. Are you happy?"
"Yes that's all I ever wanted. I am happy with Daddy and Mom. Both of them are trying there best to make me feel comfortable. I am already happy but I enjoy their little treats." She said laughing.
"You naughty kid. You take advantage of the situation." I said tickling her.
"Ahh, don't do that. What's wrong in it? They are my mom and dad right? They can do it for a while. I love being pampered. After some time I'll tell them that everything is okay and I understand them." She said but of course she is not much matured to know about their relationship. But I think everything will be fine in between them.

"Hey princess. Lets go. Oh hi Era."
"Hello Sam."
"You're early today. I was going to come pick you up right after I drop Lisa to school."
"Don't bother. I am going to visit dad first."
"Oh but how will you go?"
"By subway."
"Are you sure its safe?"
"Its alright Sam. I'll go."
"Okay bye then." He took Lisa in his arms and went out.

I was going to the hospital by the subway. I felt a man staring at me in a different way. I shrugged the feeling.

"Good Morning Dad." I said as I entered his hospital room.
"Good morning Era. You came after so long."
"So sorry dad. But your son is at fault he never takes me here. I finally managed the subway ride today." I said being fake angry.
"Yeah you're right. You're new at the city yet. These boy, he is going to get scolded."
"Yeah he should." I said and we both laughed.
"Here I know you like lilies so I brought them along."
"Wow thank you dear. Sit down and now say what's troubling you?"
"Nothing."
"Era I can read your emotions. I am a father after all."
"Actually I don't know but something is troubling me dad."
"What is it my child?"
"I want to ask you why do you choose me? There may be many of them who truly wants to be Chris's wife. There might be many who are much better for him. There might have been dozens who impressed you too. Then why me?" He laughed a little.
"Yes dear you're right there are many girls who would have been perfect match to Chris. But the reason that I choose you is simple. You both are meant to be. Yes dear, its true. You both are marrying because of me but you both are really destined to be together. You know why?"
I shook my head.
"Because you both fill each other. You fill up the traits Chris does not have and its vice-versa. Its simple. You might deny it, Chris will too. But I know you're going to be happiest together. Chris looked at no one the way he looks at you. That look was just for his mother but its for you too. The look of pure adoration. And don't be shy child I've seen you looking at Chris with the same level of adoration. You both remind me of our love story. You both are just like me and Chris's mom. Listen child you should always know these marriage is not done only because of me. It has more meaning to it. Trust me you'll know it." Whatever he said seems true. I know I can trust him. I nodded smiling.

"Good morning dad. Oh Era." Chris entered the room
"You bastard. You're here. Why can't you bring her here with you huh? You little donkey she had to come by a subway. Drive her here whenever she wants to visit or see the consequences."
"I am sorry dad. I didn't know about.."
"Shut up. No excuses."
"Sorry sorry."
I chuckled a little.
"You're enjoying a lot. You should've..."
"Don't say anything to her talk to me little trash bin."
"Dad.."
"What dad? You understand what I said?"
"Yeah. I get it."
"Okay now say sorry."
"What? Why?"
"Say sorry." Dad said in a loud voice.
"Okay sorry."
I giggled.
"Its okay dad let the little chick go." I said teasing Chris.
"You dare to call me a chick." He said angrily
"She will call you anything she wants."
"Dad!"
"Shut up."
We all laughed. We all had a really good time talking with dad about various things. And I enjoyed being Dad's favoured child. Mom entered.
"It feels really good seeing my family smile."
"Good morning mom." We both said together.
"Good morning children. Well you both should get going now. It's time for your office. Visit at evening."
"Actually my brother is going back at evening I am going to see him back so, I'll come late is that okay?"
"Oh you're brother came, you should have invited him to meet us." Mom said.
"Mom he came day before yesterday. Everything happened so fast I forgot about that. He met Chris yesterday. He said he and my grandmother will like to do a video chat with you whenever you have time."
"Sure. Lets fix it soon." Dad said.
"Okay then come over for dinner."
"Alright Mom." Chris said and we both headed out.
