We listen as Dominic explains that the way the contracts are written. Each of the brothers will be given a 15% stake in the company, with Donovan taking 25% as he has been with the company since turning 18. They won't be cutting Dimitri out completely and he and Maryanne will keep an 5% stake, but with no voting power. The trustees and shareholders will make up the remaining 20%.
Donovan nods as he listens, apparently happy enough, "what about the last 5%?"
At this, Dominic turns to me, "the last 5% goes to Madelyn. It's obvious Donovan intends to make you part of the family, and you have worked hard to help us build since the moment you came on board." Turning towards Donovan, "Pair that with dads mistreatment of her while at the helm, and the fact that she's stepping out as a single parent, she has some flexibility. That is, if she wants it."
All eyes are on me. "Umm... thank you so much, it truly isn't necessary,"
Donovan cuts me off, "it's the least we can do, you'll take it." I just nod.
Rafe jumps in now, handing out packets. "Donovan, Chief Executive Officer. I'm slipping in at Chief Technology Officer. Dominic is obviously our Company Attorney. Gio will be Chief Financial Officer. And Madelyn, we'd like you to step up as Chief Marketing Officer. You organized most of this week, handle most advertisements as is, even as an office assistant. What do you say?"
I look around at these men, are they serious? And when I don't answer, Dimitri is the one to speak up. "Our personal lives aside, you deserve this, Madelyn. My asking you to attend this week and to organize the conference had nothing to do with anything other than your talent, skill, and professionalism."
I offer him a right smile. "Thank you, Dimitri."
Dominic takes over again and it's then I realize there is a face on a screen. He gestures to it and says, "Donovan, Madelyn, meet Casey. She is an attorney friend that has been helping me all night. I wanted to be sure we didn't overlook anything and that there was no question of motive or indiscretion. Tonight we sign. Tomorrow night, dad will make the announcement." We spend the next 15-20 minutes signing and dating and initialing all the things.
We say goodbye to Casey, and then, I ask, "is announcing tomorrow night a good idea? Shouldn't the staff be notified before we make a huge announcement at an event like this?"
Dominic comes over and puts his hand on my shoulder, "see, this is why we need you." He runs a hand over his face. "She's right, guys. We owe it to the staff. New plan?"
At this, I stand up. "Yes. New plan." My mind is racing, "Tomorrow night, Dimitri runs the show as planned. At the end of the night, and leave the securing of it to me, you guys present him with him with a plaque or certificate of appreciation, I'll work out the details tomorrow. We make an announcement about an upcoming announcement, inviting the attendees to join via web link. We play nice, all night. Tonight I'll generate an email and text to go out tomorrow to all staff notifying them of a mandatory staff meeting Monday at 1500 hours. The email going out to conference attendees will be edited to include the link to the meeting. We announce then. We announce the changing of hands, we announce the new positions, and, even though I know it's a couple weeks earlier than planned, we announce the upcoming expansion and home-defense courses launching in the Spring." I look around, "what do you think?"
No one talks for a moment, and then several clarifying questions are asked. In the end, Donovan looks at me, "alright, baby, make it happen. I'll go with dad and Dominic tomorrow to clean out the convention center, you and Rafe stay here and get everything out about the upcoming announcement and the award for tomorrow evening." And then he stops, "has anyone talked to Gio?"
Laughing, Dominic answers him, "yeah, the kid has been notified. He's on board and judging by the emails I'm getting from docusign, he's finished with all his paperwork as well."
The atmosphere is very different than it was earlier. And while I'm still staying clear of Dimitri, and Donovan is still doing his best to stand between us, even when we are across the room, a lot of the tension has dissipated. We say our goodnights and make plans of what time to start in the morning, and head our separate ways.
Once we get to our room, Donovan locks us in and kisses me. Not a gentle kiss, not a sweet kiss, but a passionate and deep and hungry kiss. He spins me and pushes me against the wall, then pulls back. "I love you, Maddie. You were amazing up there. And you deserve every bit of it." His lips are on mine again, and then he turns me so my chest is against the wall as he unzips my gown and slips is off of me. Kissing down my back, he kneels behind me and spins me around again, grabbing my left leg, he put it over his shoulder and immediately his mouth is on me, his tongue massaging me his teeth pulling at me, his beard rough against my skin. He's unrelenting. He's thorough. He's demanding. And before I know it, I'm screaming out his name as I fight to stay standing. He eventually lowers my leg, and stands. Kissing me, gently but firmly he begins to squeeze my breasts and pull at and twist my nipple.
"Get on the bed, sweetheart." The order from him similar to the ones his dad gave me, except for the tone and the endearment. Which made it still thrilling, but also safe. I complied and laid there naked and waiting while he stripped on his way to me. Climbing on the bed and hovering between my legs, he roughly asks, "what do you want, Maddie?"
I say, "you" and try to kiss him, but he shakes his head. "Specifically, what do you want and how do you want want it. Because I don't want to cross any lines." His nose trails along my jaw.
My heart warms, and excitement fills me, "I want you to fuck me. Hard and fast. Please." That's all it takes.
