" how long was i gone ? This place has changed so much " Halle said as she sat on the chair and inspected my office

" months , and no I haven't changed anything , i don't have time for that " i told her and she smirked ;" but you changed your assistant , she has a cute blouse " she added and i sighed and looked over at Audrey , she was sitting in her office , too focused on whatever task i gave her this morning

" yeah well , don't get used to her " I muttered as i ran my hand in my hair ;" where's Adam by the way ? I thought he'd come running here as soon he knows you're back " i asked , changing the subject about Audrey

" he should be on his way " she said ;" so do you wanna go out tonight , the three of us ? Like always ?" Halle suggested and i looked at her , thinking wether should i go out and have some fun with my friends , or stay here all night so Audrey could stay too and torture her with more tasks until she breaks

Unwillingly , my eyes drifted towards Audrey again , only to find her chatting with Adam , she was smiling and looking up at him in those warming eyes of hers , the same way she once looked at me

The memory of that made my blood boil

And the sight of them together did something to my chest , he stood over her , his hands in his pockets , looking down at her with his usual flirty devilish look , i know this look , it's no good , and i had to stop it before it goes any further

I don't pay her to chat with Adam , she's my assistant and she was supposed to do her work

I grabbed the desk phone and called her , she immediately picked it up ;" where are the report i asked you for ? It's been almost an hour " i growled through the phone and Hailey stared at me , surprised from my tone

" can't go out , I'm busy , maybe next time " i said to Halle after hanging up ;" okay" she muttered and i inhaled sharply , looking over at Audrey 's direction again , there she comes with the files , and Adam too who opened the door for her

"Halle !" He greeted Halle with a smile as they both hugged each other , Audrey walked passed them and put the report on my desk ;" there you go " she said and stood back firmly

I opened the report and went on reading it , i was a fast reader . Damn it , it was good , so good , i'd be lying to myself if i told her it was bad and I'd be a jerk if i told her to redo it

" anything else ?" She asked ;" no , you're dismissed " i told her without looking at her , when she was out i put aside the report and sat back ;" man , stop cockblocking me , we were having a great conversation " Adam spoke and Halle hit his arm

" stop talking about women like that , how many times i warned you ?" Halle was upset , she was always against the offensive words about women , like the word " fucking " instead of making love or such words as slut , whore , cockblocking . She didn't have that problem with me but Adam had a sharp tongue

" it's not like that , i was this close to asking her to have dinner with me " Adam said as he sat , my jaw tightened and i glared at him ;" you will do no such thing , stay away from my assistant Walter " my tone was stern

" Last time i checked , CEO aren't supposed to fool around with their assistants , do you wanna hit the news buddy ?" He asked and i chuckled
" last time i checked , you were still a partner in this firm , which prevents you from fooling around with employees too " i stated

" i barely come here,  i don't even have an office here " he protested ;" yes you do , it's in the third floor " i said and he shrugged ;" still , i don't see why i shouldn't ask her out , unless of course..." he started and stopped , which made me curious
