1 9 || Reunion

The first month passed as i worked my ass off for Kayden , it didn't get easy , not a bit

And don't get me started on his team building event , he's definitely trying to make me look like one of those asians girls who make ad commercials about herbs that make them so skinny and thin like a broom

This morning , he seemed to be a bad mood , i knocked on his door and asked if there was anything he wanted me to do

His face twisted derisively, then he fired out instructions. He wanted me to make twenty photocopies of the documents on the table next to me and send faxes to some people in Russia

Then he asked me to work on a PowerPoint presentation for an upcoming deal , he gave me a report for more informations about it . Kayden didn't care for color scheme, font or anything else, he said he had more important things to do than mess with the details. And he made sure to use a tone that let me know it was my job to do these inconsequential and idiotic tasks

I started to cross off everything he asked me to do. Regardless of my personal feelings, he was still my boss here, and I gotta suck it up for Vivian . Of course, Kayden was a supreme dictator, because he made me spend over four hours redoing the PowerPoint

Finally, I threw my hands up in the air ; "what are you looking for exactly ?"; " A professional look that will inspire trust , but I suppose that's not something you're capable of pulling off" He made an isn't-that-sad face

"Inspiring undeserved trust isn't something I'm good at , that's your thing " He leaned forward in his seat ; "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked in a serious voice

" nothing" I muttered and he stood up and slowly walked to me ;" I've never done anything to deceive people " he protested and I couldn't help but to chuckle at his comment ;" let's not tell lies here Kayden" His eyes twitched and his body stiffened

Probably because this was the first time i said his name after so long

I was not bringing up what happened ten years ago. That'd betray how deeply I was hurt, and I'm not giving him the satisfaction;" If you think I'm that terrible, you should quit, i won't stop you "

"The payment here is good enough to make me overlook your existence " i said without sparing him a look ;" Oh, that's right , i forgot. You can be had cheaply"  It felt like he just backhanded me , anger started to run through my body, and I tensed every muscle I can to prevent myself from trembling in front of him

Jade was able to get almost two hundred thousand dollars after selling the stuff he gave me . They were enough to cover the hospital bills after Viv's accident and afford some of the items she needed , but not enough for the future

I let the horrible memory of that slides away from my mind

" anything else ?" I asked as i crossed my arms
" yeah , redo it " he ordered and i nodded , and before i could turn away to leave , he spoke again
" and one more thing" i looked up ;" you should work on your 'yes sir' when you talk to me from now on" I narrowed my eyes at his strange order

Control freak

" all my employees say it , you're no different " he stepped closer and i inhaled deeply ;" am i clear?" He asked and i nodded again , when did it get hot in here ? " that's not what i wanna hear , Audrey" shit , he finally said my name ;" yes" i said in a low tone ;" yes what ?" He asked and I didn't realise how close we were standing from each other ;" yes sir "
